Hello Techies

My computer is running slow and getting slower.  It's been suggested that I clean up "the registry".

Advice please.

Technical Help / Re: Ancestry - Virus?
« on: Saturday 24 January 09 15:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

Looks like we are now debugged.  It seems it was related to e-trust antivirus.  If you have this software and a window opens with JS/MS06-014!exploit then refresh your e-trust antivirus programme and it will fix it.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Technical Help / Ancestry - Virus?
« on: Saturday 24 January 09 11:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

Is anyone having or had problems with this site.

After I've logged in a box appears "Realtime Infection Alert" - there is a box showing the files that are being searched (Temporary Internet files) - the number of infections found and the seconds remaining (ticking away) on that search.  There is a NEXT box and a CLOSE box - the NEXT box just clicks on to the next file - the CLOSE box works for a few seconds then it re-appears.  Hubby managed to get rid of it but the whole thing starts up again when I re-log into Ancestry.

Anyone suffering like this?

So I can't remember my password  ::)

Because I'm a lapsed member of FindMyPast the site won't allow me to register as a newbie as it recognise my e-mail and asks me for my password  ::) ::)

So I've sent two e-mails requesting my password and it will take TWO DAYS  ???  :-X to get back to me.

I'm sitting here with my plastic money. chompin at the bit, stumped.

Hubby is not going to be able to handle this  :'(

Hello Jim

Thomas Winsper and Nancy Butler married in 1828.  As my George married in 1846 I don't believe their son George is my George.

Many thanks for your time.

Hello judijee

Thankyou for the info about the slab covering the family vault - how posh is that?!!

I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the little book you mention - I wonder if the library in Bilston would have a copy for sale?  I could try the St. Leonard's.   I've tried Googling but nothing returns.  Anyone have any ideas where I might try, other than the library?

Merry Yule to all  8)
