Many, many thanks to all those who contributed to this post.  I now know I've passed by the spot many times.  These old photos are great and I love the volunteer steeplejacks.

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Samuel Humphreys circa 1790
« on: Wednesday 16 February 11 09:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

Can anyone help with the baptism of Samuel Humphreys please?

The '41 census gives his age circa 1796 and his buriel in 1845 in Woodford by Thrapston states his age as 55 giving a birthdate of 1790.

In '41 there is an Elizabeth Humphrey living next door born circa 1756 and her buriel in 1845 gives her age as 94 giving a birth circa 1751 - Elizabeth may be Samuel's mother.  Elizabeth's death cert states she was the widow of a Daniel Humphrey.  A Daniel Humphrey was buried in Woodford in 1831 aged 78.

A kind searcher found a marriage for a Daniel Humphrey and Elizabeth Colson in Gt. Addington in 1775.

I know Samuel married Susanna Wells (Quaker family) and I have their children.

If anyone can help with Samuel's baptism, I would be very grateful.

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: BUSH family of Bitton

Hello Marsha

Sorry I've been out of touch for a while, family history got pushed to the back burner for a while.

Re your message way back in May last year, many thanks for confirming/tyding up the Bush & Thompson lines, I'll live in hope that someone, one day, can push Laurance's line further back.

Eliza Lavinia Bush was registered as such according to Free BMD and she married Albert Henry BROWETT and it looks like he came from Quaker stock from Northamptonshire.  My mother-in-law is a Browett, Eliza Lavinia's grand-daughter.

The Newland search is my own and the family is Oliver.  Hannah Oliver consistently states Newland as her POB but I've not yet been able to find her baptism.

Yes I have seen the FOD sight and agree it's a fantastic resource - I do envy the dedication of the volunteers.

Just off to chase some Quakers around Northamptonshire.

Staffordshire / KELSALL/KELSEL of Buslem
« on: Monday 27 July 09 10:02 BST (UK)  »
Hello All

Particularly interested in the family of Thomas & Elizabeth Kelsall.  According to the IGI their daughter Hannah was bpt. 13.06.1781 in Burslem.  Their next child Thomas Lowe was bpt 22.09.1782 in Burslem as were the rest of the family; Charles, Elizabeth, Ephraim, Enoch, John & Eli up to 1798.  The IGI gives a marriage between Betty Lowe and Thomas Kelsey 10.09.1780 @ St. Giles Newcastle Under Lyme.

Hannah Kelsall may be my 4 x great grandmother who married Richard Robinson on 30.05.1802 in Norton in the Moors.

Does this ring any bells with anyone please?

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Newland PR's
« on: Sunday 05 July 09 15:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello Daisy

Thank you for the John Oliver info, I believe this is my man.  His widow was a servant in the '51 census and she and her children were all in other households.

The Elizabeth Evans you found is probably a relation but obviously not his mother in law.

Thanks for your time.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Newland PR's

Helo All

Anyone have access to Newland's PR's please?

Looking for the death of John Oliver between 1841 and 1851.  What I really need is his age.
FreeBMD gives 2 entries on March 1851 registered in Upton upon Severn.

Also Elizabeth Evans the same month - I think she may be his mother in law.

Many thanks

Well, thankyou all for your input.  I shall stay well away from the registry.

Will probably start with some general housekeeping to see if that speeds things up a tad.

I like the sound of "experimenting at the edges of reality" but must admit the computer doesn't figure in the thought 8)

Thankyou all for your time and suggestions, much appreciated.
