I also found this:
http://www.theislandwiki.org/index.php/Church_records_database
but you may have to hold your breath while they upload all the records.

Great lateral thinking from Carole to get Holman from an Almond  :) .

For baptisms, I suspect you may have to contact the local records office.
Try this link:

The Genuki site has more info on channel islands research too.
Happy hunting.

Perhaps a compromise would be to create a CD-ROM version of your tree which could be distributed to interested members of your family. Computer generated trees have some advantages, particularly the ability to link from person to person, although a nicely produced book would be a lovely thing to pass down the generations.

There's a marriage for Kathlyn Dennard to a Runacres in Scotland 1919, and a birth for Kathleen Dennard in 1896.

Wales / Re: Opinion needed please!

It might be worth looking at the original records to see if some of the discrepancies (particularly Timothy's age) are really transcription errors. After all, in the 1881, even the surname of the children is slightly different.

Completed Census Requests / Re: Bews formerly McGuffie

That's great Carole. I don't know why I couldn't find her as I thought I had searched there.  ???
Many thanks for taking the time to check, and yes, you are right about her second marriage.

Completed Census Requests / Bews formerly McGuffie
« on: Friday 01 March 13 22:55 GMT (UK)  »
I would like to find more information on Jane Bews who was born Jane McGuffie in about 1883. By 1916 she was widowed and living in London, but I'm pretty certain that her parents lived in Largs, Ayrshire for some time. Her father's name was Samuel McGuffie. It would be good to know if she was already married at the time of the 1911 census. The family may have lived in Glasgow before moving to Largs.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Any Nautical Experts - Dating Required

I have now got a list of ships built by James Perrett, courtesy of http://www.theislandwiki.org: six cutters, three schooners and two brigantines. Sadly, I don't think the ship pictured is any of these types. ???

You, Sir, are a star!
Right near the bottom of the site is my wife's ancestor James Perrett. Now I need to find the names of the ships which are listed as having been built by him.
