I want to thank everyone for their input and help. It does look as if my search should perhaps be directed to either Stirling Archives or The Mitchell.  I think this closes my original question. However, if I learn anything more about Memento, I will post it.
Thanks again.
Rob.

Ian.
I'm not sure about the origin of the Name "Bridge of Allan" other than the river it stands on being Allan Water. I did find an "Allan" family there who owned a successful market garden operation and initially thought they were connected to my family, but later discovered that was not so.

Guy.
it is some time since I looked at Memnto, but I do not think her husband has done anything with it and I don't know if he intends to do so. I do know he was devastated by Anne's death.  Such a shame. She was a wonderful woman.

Monica,
She did tons of research for a war memorial for the Town of Camelon. When it was done, she was offered payment by the local council and she flatly refused.  That memorial is now in place and I think it is excellent.

Re. Memento Mori. The owner, and my friend Anne Anderson died unexpectedly last year.  As far as I can tell no-one has continued with it. Its a real shame. Anne was a dedicated helper, often giving out info. F.O.C.  She also performed hundreds of hours on Scottish Military Research.

Thanks for the fast response.  This does make sense as the writer that made the comment thought that these Allan's were servants in the castle.  Is there a way or a web site I can use to follow up on this ?  I live in Canada which combined with this Pandemic make life difficult.  Thanks again !

Stirlingshire / Black Tombstones outside Stirling Castle

In Researching my Allan ancestors, I have found a document that says "The Big Cemetery Outside Stirling Castle has several large black Allan tombstones......"  It is some considerable time since I was at Stirling Castle, but I cannot think of ANY cemetery in the near vicinity, never mind "Outside" the castle.  As far as my research goes, my Allan ancestors were farmers and came from Falkirk.  Does anyone have any information on this cemetery and the "black Allan tombstones" ?

Thanks very much RK.  I have bookmarked the entry as I'm sure it will be needed in future.

The thought is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for these directory entries. That helps a lot as I am not able to visit libraries directly.

Thank too to everyone else for their helpful info.  This line of inquiry is now closed.
