Completed Census Requests / census lookups James GUNTHORPE & family
« on: Tuesday 06 June 06 03:40 BST (UK)  »
I'm very new to this, so I hope I'm posting in the right section.

I am looking for a James Gunthorpe (brickmaker) hopefully with his family. His son was William John, brickmaker, born 1859 in Buckingham. I have found William and his wife Harriet (Bailey) living in York in 1881. They emigrated to Australia in 1883. It is their marriage certficate that tells me William's father's name is James.

I have searched IGI and Free BMD and there are zillions of Gunthorpes - many of them are brickmakers, many live in York, many were born in Buckingham and many of them emigrated to Australia. There are very few James, and I can't see one that is likely to me mine.

These families are most likey all related in some way, which is a huge project for me to sort out further down the track.

For now I would like to find James, his wife and family. I know nothing about him other than his name, his profession and that he had a son William.

I would be indebted to anyone who is able to find this family for me.
Many thanks.

Wexford / Re: HEALY/RYAN and Connor/MURPHY families in Wexford

Thanks anyway heywood. Yes, I was so excited when I discovered these "unusual" first names, only to discover that they were very common.
I think I'll need that luck to find out anything about this lot.
There must be thousands of their descendants out there somewhere!

Thanks heywood.
As my Thomas Joseph Healy was born in 1863, I don't think this the right mother and siblings. I will check out the LDS option though. I thought you had to know the townland before you could get anywhere with Irish records, and I know nothing more than what I've posted here.
Thank you for trying. Much appreciated.

Thanks once again Audrey.

From the site you recommended, I have found one possibility of a Thomas HEALY birth. This I will try to explore further.

I have found no mention of Darby HEALY.

I have found many Denis CONNOR births, many Mary MURPHY births and marriages (but none with a Denis CONNOR), and
several Anastasia RYAN marriages, but none with a Darby HEALY, and one Anastasia birth within possible date range.

When many results appear with these common names it is difficult to know which, if any, are the right ones.

I thought the HEALY/RYAN and CONNOR/MURPHY marriages might be a good starting point for tracing these families, if any records exist.

Thanks again.

Thank you very much Audrey. I appreciate your help.
I have looked at that site before. I looked again after your suggestion and found nothing about HEALY/RYAN but found this information about a Dennis CONNOR and Mary MURPHY.

Dennis CONNOR
Birth 1771
Knockanure
Wexford Ireland
Death 1832

Marriage: about 1800, Wexford, Ireland

Spouse: Mary MURPHY
Birth 1777
Wexford
Death 1869

Children: none

Unfortunately these are not the ones I am searching for as Mary Jane CONNOR was not born until 1864.
Thanks again.

Wexford / HEALY/RYAN and Connor/MURPHY families in Wexford

I am new to Rootschat and this is my very first question.

I am looking for information about my ggg grandparents, my gg grandparents and any of their family from Wexford, Ireland.

My gg grandfather was Thomas Joseph HEALY, born 1863 in New Ross, Wexford. His parents were Darby HEALY and Anastasia RYAN. Darby HEALY was a farmer but I know nothing else about the family.

My gg grandmother was Mary Jane CONNOR, born in 1864 in Wexford, Wexford. Her parents were Denis (or Dennis) CONNOR and Mary MURPHY. Denis was also a farmer.

Thomas Joseph HEALY and Mary Jane CONNOR were married in Brisbane, Australia in 1886. Mary Jane's death certificate tells me that she came to Brisbane in 1884 aged 20. I do not know when Thomas Joseph came to Australia.

I have only been researching my family history for a few months, but am aware of the difficulties with the Irish connection.

I would be most grateful for any information about this family. Many thanks.
