London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Parish Records Request
« on: Monday 03 September 07 22:24 BST (UK)  »
I found a record of a marriage at St Giles Cripplegate in 11 April 1827 for John Everett married to Sarah James (widow.)  Would the parish records list a widow with her birth name or her married name?  I've seen it done both ways here.

My known ancestor was Mary Ann Elsom Everett, born 16 January 1831.  Her baptismal record at St Leonard's Shoreditch in 1836 lists parents as John and Sarah Everitt, both deceased.  I think I  have found John's parents, but I don't know how to start looking for Sarah's unless the records used her birth name.

If James would be her married name, would someone be willing to look for a death of a Mr James in the Shoreditch/Cripplegate area in the early to mid 1820's?  (There are probably several.)  And then maybe check to see if there was a marriage not too long before to a Sarah?  John was born in 1804, so Sarah would probably have been born in that same time frame.  If I could just get some clues I would check on them to try to find the right Sarah.

I know this is a backward way to go about finding Sarah's family, but I can't think of another way to do it.  And I don't have access to the records.  I am in Missouri, USA.

Thank you for any help.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Mary Pennell Death Record
« on: Thursday 21 September 06 01:00 BST (UK)  »
Would somebody please look to see if there is a death record for Mary Pennell (any spelling) some time between 1817 and 1825.  I think she was in Kensington and probably last in Wetminster.  But she could have been any place around those areas.  One son was born in Hammersmith.   Mary would have been born about 1785 and was married to Charles Pennell.

Thank you.

Would somebody please check for a will or probate records for Charles Pennell who died in Northfleet, Kent in 1840 or 1841 at age 55?  I believe he may be my ancestor, but need some kind of proof.

Thank you.

Kent / PENNELLS of Northfleet
« on: Wednesday 20 September 06 01:24 BST (UK)  »
Aussiewen, Beverley, Jean, and other Pennell researchers:

I have been checking all the PENNELL posts on these boards and I think we may have a family with the Pennells of Northfleet--those who had children baptized there between 1824-1871 may be siblings.  Their births, according to census, are spaced like they could be.

I have the baptismal record for mine who was Thomas born 1804, parents were Charles and Mary.  Couples in Northfleet were Thomas and Eliza, Charles and Ann, Richard and  Frances, Joseph and Lucy, John and Elizabeth.  There was also a couple named Charles and Elizabeth who had 3 children between 1826-1829.  I looked for all of them in census to see where they were born.  When I came to Charles and Elizabeth I found that Elizabeth was 55 in 1841 (born 1786) and Charles had died by then.  There ia a Charles Pennell in the death records there, died in 1840 at age 55 (1785).  Seems he could be the father of my Thomas and Elizabeth maybe a step-mother, Mary maybe dying between John's birth in 1817 in Westminster and when Elizabeth's children were born--if she was his mother.

Have any of you checked parish records to see who the parents of Charles, Richard, Joseph and John were?  If we could find that we may find that we are all related and could work together to find more ancestors.  And there are sisters somewhere too, one possibly being Elizabeth who married Thomas Butts in 1830 in Northfleet.

I just found that Beverly's husband's ancestor was also a son of Thomas and Eliza.  I am really hoping to find more of us are related.  And does anyone know how we could get a copy of the will or probate records of Charles who died in 1840 in Northfleet?  And if we get film or other sources for the baptisms of the men listed, maybe we can also look for Mary's death in those places.  Could be she died in childbirth.

I hope there are others who are willing to work to see if this is one family.

Thank you.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Vost & Clarke Connect
« on: Sunday 03 September 06 23:13 BST (UK)  »
I have found an ancestor named Eliza VOST who was born in 1808 in Hayes, parents John VOST and Margaret CLARKE.  I would like to connect with others who are researching the VOST and CLARKE families.  I would like to find the parents of John and Margaret, their birth dates and places, and any siblings.

I have been in touch with a man in Australia who has information on this family, but he did not seem to have anything before John and Margaret.  Both died in th1840's in Uxbridge.  Births estimated from their death information were in late 1760's, no location.

Known children of John and Margaret VOST were:

Thomas 1794
Susan 1795
Mary Ann 1797
Sarah 1800
William 1801
Susanna 1805
Diana 1806
Eliza 1808
James 1812
Joseph 1815
Caroline 1819

If I could connect with VOST and CLARKE family researchers, possibly I could find the information I am seeking.

Trying to straighten out a lot of confusion about my ancestor Mary Ann Elsom EVERITT/EVERETT.  Transcribed IGI has 2 Mary Anns born the same day to parents of the same name and both baptized at St Leonard's Shoreditch.  My Mary Ann Elsom EVERITT (name from her marriage record) was born 16 January 1831 per the IGI and her death record from Canada.  IGI says her parents are John and Sarah EVERITT.  Her marriage record says her father is Matthew EVERITT, cordwainer.

The other part of the confusion is that there was also a Mary Ann Sarah EVERETT born 16 January 1831 to parents John and Sarah EVERETT (same day, same parents names, probably the same place.)  This Mary Ann was baptized in March of 1831 while mine is listed in IGI as being baptized in Oct 1836.  I have ordered film to confirm that.

I have found no John and Sarah EVERETT/EVERITT (or any close spelling) in the 1841 census with a daughte Mary the right age.  I have found a John, cordwainer, and Mary with a daughter Mary who is listed as 12, should be 10, in St Marylebone.  There are other children born later.  I am thinking Sarah may have died and John married a woman named Mary and had more children.

What I need help to find is a birth record for Mary Ann Elsom EVERITT on 16 January 1831, somewhere around Shoreditch to verify parents' names.  I would also like to find if there is a death record for a Sarah EVERITT in that area between 1831 and 1835.  I would also like to find a marriage record for John EVERITT and Sarah around 1825-1830, somewhere in the area--maybe.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / PENNELL marriage ca 1800 maybe Hammersmith
« on: Saturday 03 June 06 16:40 BST (UK)  »
I have a birth record for Thomas Pennell born 1804 Hammersmith.  His parents are listed as Charles and Mary Pannell.  I have rented the film for Hammersmith but have not found the marriage for Charles and Mary.  I did, however, find a marriage there for Charles Pannell and Sarah Jonks in 1769.  It is very possible these are the parents of the Charles who was the father of Thomas.   Charles and Mary would have married around 1800 I would assume from Thomas' birthdate.

This family moved around a lot, so they may have married in another parish.  I have found my families of PENNELL, EVERITT, &  VOST in and around Islington, Shoreditch, Hackney, Hammersmith, Hayes, Paddington, Bethnal Green, Uxbridge, and Northfleet and Crayford Kent.

I am at a loss of where to look more for any of these families before 1810.  Help would be appreciated.
