Hi Gadget,

thank you. I didn't realise Harris was so far, I thought it was in Inverness. But your info, now sounds the most promising. I shall go with that. I will keep you posted if I find anything.

Thanks,

Red   :)

Inverness / Inverness....McLennan

Hi everyone,
I am researching the paternal side of my tree. My gt gt granpa was John McLennan born abt 1833-7 in Inverness.
His father's name was John, he was a farmer.
John Jr, came south to Liverpool, and married a lady called Eliza Whittaker from Ireland. They married in 1869 and went on to have 9 children, that I know of.
Any information that you can give me would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks,
Red  :)

HI everyone,
I have just found out my gt gt granma's name was Eliza Whittaker, she was born abt 1846 in Tullamore. She left Ireland to come to Liverpool. She met and married John Mclennan in 1869, and had 9 children as far as I know.
Can someone help me find her. Which county is Tullamore in? Does anyone know of any Whittakers from that area?
Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Red  :)

The Lighter Side / Re: Family stories-- True or False?
« on: Sunday 16 July 06 00:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
my nan always used to tell us we were related to the Bibby family.  The famous shipping line ones!!
Well, we have got Bibbys in our tree, her grandmother was a Bibby, and we do come from Liverpool, but not one of the famous ones.
My nan was very good at spinning a yarn!

Cheers,

Red ;)

Occupation Interests / Re: moulder??
« on: Wednesday 12 July 06 20:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi, my gt granpa was a 'brass moulder'. this was from1883 to when he died, some time around 1920's 30's.
He also served an appreticeship to qualify as one. I've always thought it meant pouring hot metal into moulds or making the moulds. Not sure which. I would be very interested if someone could shed some light on to which one it might be !
Thanks
Redkop :)
