I am looking for some help on two fronts. Firstly, I am trying to find the maiden name of William's wife Elizabeth who was born circa 1795 in Hedenham. Their first child was born circa 1824 with birthplace Norwich. She was also mother to James, Emily, George and Rachel born between 1826 and 1836 in Hellesdon.

The second issue is to do with William Callow's death. Elizabeth is registered as a widow in the 1851 census and there is a death in 1848 for a William Callow. There was also a William Callow, a police constable, who died following the Norwich pauper riots. He is registered as a death on the 1848 police roll of honour but the Norfolk police website has an article on the riots giving the year as 1846. Is it likely that an agricultural labourer in the 1841 could become a police constable and which source is the most likely to have the correct date?

Any clues/information would be much appreciated.

I am trying to verify the family of William Jones and Mary b circa 1832 Diddlebury relying mainly so far on census records.

William was born circa 1828 in Ditton Priors, parents not known, and married Mary, maiden name unknown, who was born Diddlebury circa 1832. His occupation was tailor. They had two children born in Velindre Radnorshire - Alfred John b1854 or 1855, also a tailor (I can not find his birth registration - there are two possibilities; one in Wolverhampton and one in Kidderminster) and Mary b1855 or 1856. Two children, William and Helen, were born in Bettws in 1859 and 1863. A daughter, Alice, was born in Clun in 1865. Two children, Herbert and Annie, were born in Bromyard, Herefordshire in 1869 and 1871. There is also an Edith b1869 who begins as a boarder then becomes a granddaughter and finally a daughter.

I have a sight of a William Jones in the 1841 census working as a servant in Ditton Priors but can not locate him in the 1851 and 1861. In 1871, the family is registered in Winslow Herefordshire, in 1881 Glanford Brigg Lincolnshire and in 1891 and 1901 Nottinghamshire. I believe William died in Nottingham in 1887.

Alfred John Jones is my great grandfather and I have found his father's name, William, on his marriage certificate.

Any help on tracing William's ancestry, his marriage and the 1851 and 1861 census entries would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to trace the ancestors of Alfred John Jones. His birthplace comes from census returns - I can not find a birth registration for him in the bmd records so I do not have a reference for birth certs.

He moved to Nottingham in about 1875 and was a tailor by trade. Preliminary but research shows that his father may have been William Jones, also a tailor, and mother Mary both from Shropshire and that they lived in Shropshire (Bettws) and then in Hereford (Bromyard). He may also have had a sister, Mary, born in 1854 in Velindre.

Any help would be much appreciated. I have also tried IGI batch records for the area also without success.

It's a bit of a tall order but I am looking for information on the Holton family of Market Deeping and the Brewer family of Langtoft specifically:

birth & death information on William Holton who married Mary Brewer in Langtoft 17/12/1793. They had two children, Joseph b1795 and Mary b1800 in Market Deeping. Mary died in Market Deeping in 1840;

ancestry information on Mary Brewer. She was born 04/04/1762 in Langtoft to a John Brewer and Elizabeth. She had a brother Thomas b1757 and a sister (maybe a twin) Mary b1762.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
