Hello

I'm looking for Anna Sophia CAMPNY (sometimes spelt 'Campney', nee MILLS) who was buried at Ngongotaha-Kauae Cemetery in 1911, at the age of 80. She married James Campney, a hotel keeper and widower in 1867 (he died 1886 and was buried with his first wife in Symonds Street Cemetery).

Does anybody live in Rotorua that might be able to assist me please?  :)

Also, was a death notice published about Anna's death?

Many thanks
Rachel

Hello

I'm totally new to this whole Probate thing...
I'd love to obtain the contents of a probate file that's in Auckland, but I'm in Wellington. How do I go about obtaining a copy of the contents?

The reference on Archway is:

Agency: BBAE, Series: 1569, Box536, Record: 16369.

Many thanks!

Hello

I'm seeking Neville CAMPBELL, born about 1927 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.
If he were alive today he'd be around 82 years of age.
He once worked at the Rockhampton Meatworks, in the mid-1940s.
Does anyone out there know where he is?

Many thanks
Rachel

Cornwall / St Clements Graveyard
« on: Friday 27 February 09 04:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I was wondering if some kind person would please be able to visit the St Clements Graveyard and find a gravestone for me?

I'm trying to find Ellen COULAM (formerly NEWTON, nee JOSE).
Ellen was born about 1865 in Truro or Shortlanesend. She married James NEWTON (born about 1851, died 1893 in Truro) sometime between 1881 and 1885. Then her second husband was the widower, William Whetter Coulam (born about 1836 in Gorran, died 1923 in Truro).
William was a publican in Churchtown, St Clement, and I'm told that the pub is near the graveyard.

Many thanks
Rachel

Lancashire / Newton Chase
« on: Friday 27 February 09 00:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I'm trying to find out more information about the NEWTON family, who owned a brass foundry and ironworks in Manchester. Their home was called 'Newton Chase', but I know nothing about what it looked like, or the Newtons who lived in it (apart from owning a foundry and ironworks business).
One of the sons was a James Newton, born about 1851, who married a woman (name unknown, possibly from Manchester) and had two children (a girl and a boy). The wife and the boy were killed on a train crash on their way to Cornwall (where James had moved to. He apparently was involved in taking electricity into Cornwall, and went there ahead of his first wife and their two children). The daughter survived (she emigrated to the USA, and became a well-known artist there). Unfortunately, I don't know James' parents names, nor  his wife and childrens.

Could somebody please give me more information on this Newton family, about 'Newton Chase', or ideas on where to look next?

Many thanks
Rachel

Hello
I have this death record which I downloaded from the Dept of Justice, Victoria, Australia website.
I'm having difficulty reading the "Cause of Death" and "If Burial Registered" columns for Mary Ann Woodcock, age 4. Where was she buried? I'm also trying to trace her father, Annely (but I've already started a post for this question of mine on both the Australian and NZ boards)

Many thanks

Would someone please be willing to look up these two marriages for me?

Sarah WOODCOCK and James CALDER in Christchurch on 20th Jul 1880

and one death:

Are there also records of births to the couple (baptism entries) ?

Many thanks!!

New Zealand Completed Requests / Annely WOODCOCK - what happened to him?
« on: Tuesday 03 February 09 07:53 GMT (UK)  »
[NB: I have posted this message on the Emigrants to Australia list, but have been advised to post it here as well]

I have an Annely Woodcock, born about 1832 in Solihull, Warwickshire, occupation: Labourer. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1852 on the same ship as his sister Jane FELTON (nee Woodcock) - the "William Hyde".
The "William Hyde", 533 tons, barque, sailed from London 21 Oct 1851 and arrived Lyttelton 5 February, 1852 with passengers and cargo and later proceeded to New Plymouth, arriving there in early March.
Annely is under "Assisted Steerage" on the shipping list as: Wooduck Anneley 20 M Ag. Laborer

Today I found out that he then moved over to Victoria, Australia, and married in 1855 an Irishwoman named Margaret SINNOT (daughter of Michael Sinnot, farmer, and Mary MURPHY). Annely must have emigrated to Australia between 1852 and 1855 (but I haven't found details about the ship yet).
They had a daughter, Mary Ann Woodcock, b 1855 - d 1859 (I've seen her birth record on the Dept of Justive, Victoria website, but decided to purchase her death record instead; also Mary Ann's birth record has her father's name indexed as 'Annealy' and mother's maiden name as 'Sinnott'. Her death record has her father's name written as 'Annely' and mother's maiden name as 'Sinnot').

I've lost all trace of Annely post-1859, and haven't found a death record for him on the Dept of Justice, Victoria, website. I've also checked online catalogues in other states of Australia for his death, but no luck there. There is a possibility that he returned to NZ (because he had two sisters and one brother here), or to the UK (for this was his country of origin and his mother would have been alive until 1872) - though I haven't found any passenger lists yet confirming either of these theories.

Does anyone know what became of Annely and his wife Margaret Woodcock (nee Sinnot)? What ship did he come to Australia on? Where did he die? Where to from here?

I also have him on the 1841 England census with his parents (in High Street, Solihull) as "Annerley, age 9", and on the 1851 census as an Agricultural Labourer in High Street, Solihull, Warwickshire.

Many thanks
Rachel
