Got a bit of a mystery here. It appears that a couple I have been researching were twice married to each other: once at the parish church of Keston, Kent in July 1880, and again at the parish church of St. George Camberwell in July 1882. I have copies of both certificates and there is little doubt that it is the same two people (Edmund Alexander Oliver and Elise Kendrick). The respective father's names and occupations are the same on each certificate, although the witnesses' names are different ( the second set of witnesses are from the brides' family, the first set I'm not sure of), and in the first marriage the bride is registered with the middle name Dagonaut. Anyone have any thoughts on why a couple might have had 2 weddings in different churches 2 years apart ? The only thing that occurs to me is that the first wedding might have been kept secret.
