Technical Help / Ancestry - duplicate records
« on: Wednesday 03 December 08 01:11 GMT (UK)  »
For some reason when using Ancestry I keep getting duplicate records i,e. wives, censuses listed twice on persons profiles. How do you remove the extra relations without removing all the records that may relate to an individual. at present it seems to easy to add to the family tree but perplexing when you need to alter it. Anyone else having similiar problems?

Thoughts and coments please Teresa

Derbyshire Completed Look ups / TOMLINSONS South Normanton COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 03 December 08 01:03 GMT (UK)  »
Browsing the web today and found this information regarding the TOMLINSON family & their connection to the Bethel Church at South Normanton.
http://www.bethel-methodist-sn.co.uk/history.htm

I have Tomlinsons in my family tree from South Normanton. Can anyone add any further information about this family. The information I have gathered on this family summarised below. I believe they are connected an Charles would be my GGG grandfather.

Charles Tomlinson born 1822 Worksop (census) later residing South Normanton, Derbyshire
Possibly IGI birth 9/4/1822 Misson, Notts, Parents John Tomlinson & Elizabeth. Too many John Tomlinson & Elizabeth marriages too idenify mothers maiden name.  Not found Charles on the 1841 &1851 census.

On the Census from 1861 onwards Charles is marrried to Matilda (unknown surname)born 1837 Blackwell, Derbshire. they have two children at this time Sarah Ann aged 2yr and John (1 month). There is a Elizabeth Tomlinson widow agd 83yr at 144 Ball Hill (2doors down)  ? Parent or other relation to Charles. I can then trace the family until the 1891 census.

John Tomlinson can be traced up to 1901.
Sarah Ann Perkins  nee Tomlinson Can be traced up to 1901. These are ancestors of my grandmother, Surnames in South Normanton of interest are Page, Perkins, Tomlinson & Draycott

Thank you for any help.  Teresa

Census and Resource Discussion / Could this be Charles COCKERTON ? census 1841
« on: Monday 17 November 08 23:30 GMT (UK)  »
Please could fellow rootchatters look at the census for 1841 Wiltshire Corsham, district 23.

Ancestry transcribed a individual as Eh Cockerton born 1821, occupation looks like Army and he is born out of county. I think it could be Ch Cockerton.

What is the possibility of it being Charles Cockerton born Maidstone 1812 ? Charles did serve in the Royal Marines joined Corsham, Portsmouth 1835.

please let me know of your thoughts

Thank you Teresa

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / KNIGHT & JONES MARRIAGE ?
« on: Tuesday 14 October 08 14:35 BST (UK)  »
I have a interest in George H. Knight born 1854 Annesley, Notts. He remarried in 1882 following the death of his first wife.

1st marriage 1873 to Sarah Jane Stewart. Sarah died 1882 ? in childbirth.
 Death  1882 July - Sept 7b 59 Basford, Notts/Derby

In the 1891 census he is married to Ellen.  Born 1843 Lowick, Northants and in the 1901 she is named as Eleanor. they are living at Annesley, Nottinghamshire

I think this is a possible for George's 2nd  Marriage
Marriage 1882 Oct - Dec 7b 335 Basford, Notts / Derby.

If anyone has any information to offer it will be gratefully recieved. I would also like to trace Ellen on the censuses prior to her marriage in 1882. I have not sent for this marriage cert in case it is a red herring.

I recently found out that Constantia Bill lived at Stanshope Hall in the 1850,s. According to The Derby Mercury Constantia died at her Stanshope residence aged 67 years. The youngest and only surviving child of the late Robert Bill of Stone Esq.
This is now a hotel in Alstonefield. Does have anyone have any knowledge of the Bill family.

Please see my previous links regarding Constantia.

I recently have recieved a marriage certificate for William Henstock & Florence Emily Draycott.
Their marriage took place at the parish church of Blackwell after Banns on the  8 July 1901.

The certificate is very faint in some places their residence I think reads Colliery ? Have any other Rootchat members found similiar residences listed or could it be some thing else.
