Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Hannah Henstock & Middleton Marriage
« on: Sunday 27 July 08 11:35 BST (UK)  »
I would be interested to know who Hannah was first married to with the surname of Henstock. I think her maiden name may have been Purcell born Somerset. I think the marriage below is her 2nd husband.

Interestingly I found this story in the Derby Mercury April 7th 1852. At Middleton by Wirksworth on the 2nd inst, by Reverend Harward. Mr James Rains to Mrs Hannah Henstock. The united age of the bride and bridegroom is 126 years.

I can see them in Middleton on the 1851 and 1862 census. I am also aware thie marriage is transcribed on the Wirksworth web site.

I am trying to connect her to Henstocks living in the Middleton area.

Thanks for any assistance.

Teresa

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Coroner report 1885 Derby
« on: Wednesday 02 July 08 17:44 BST (UK)  »
Would I be able to obtain a copy of a coroner report in Derby 1885? Who do I need to contact?

Is it likely to give precise information regarding the death of Maria Cockerton.
Am I likely also to find information about her family and circumstances leading to her death.

I do have a short newspaper article on her death but would like to know more generally.
Her death was 8th March 1885 at 65 Warner St, Derby. Death caused by fractured skull due to falling downstairs.

thank you Teresa

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / HENSTOCK & DRAYCOTT Families at Tibshelf
« on: Wednesday 02 July 08 17:15 BST (UK)  »
I have recently obtained my grandfather's birth certificate and now know the names of his parents.

The information I have is

Cyril Henstock born 1912 at 29 Haddon street, Tibshelf.
Father William Henstock.     Occupation Coal Hewer.
Mother Florence Emily Henstock formerley Draycott.

I have found a marriage registration of the above named parents for July quarter 1901 Mansfield.
From researching I can see that Henstock is a common name in the Tibshelf area.

I would also be interested to know if there were any siblings 12 years seems a long time to wait.

My father thinks that Florence died early in Cyril's childhood and that William remarried.
Dad has said that Cyril did have a  half brother and sister named Cliff & Florrie.
Very little information is known and I have not yet found census details.

If anyone as any information to help this search I would be very grateful.

It is expected to reopen in a few weeks. Could local people please inform others on this site when it reopens. It may save a wasted journey.

Alternativery there is also the Nottinghamshire Archives to visit in the city.

I recently have obtained my GGG grandfather's grave number from the Derby Family History Society.
I was wondering if the grave is still visible at the above cemetry and wondered if there was a memorial inscription. If any rootchat member has any information to offer I would be grateful.

The grave number is 2017 Charles Cockerton aged 89 buried 15/06/1904 and also his 2nd wife Emma Cockerton (nee Hobbs) buried 4/02/1905 aged 54yrs.

Is there any further information that I can source knowing the above information
