Leicestershire / Re: Adam Underwood, how many times did he marry?
« on: Monday 23 August 10 13:09 BST (UK)  »
I have Adam underwood born abt 1660 died 1743 Ashfordby Leicestershire

Marriages at Ashfordby to Adam Underwood,

Dorothy Ison 30 Nov 1693, burial for Dorothy 14 June 1694

Ann Monke 1 Dec 1694, burial 4 May 1701 (4 children to this marriage)

Mary Burgess 28 April 1702, burial 5 Sept 1705 ( 1 child born)

An[n] Silverwood (a widow) 2 June 1706, burial 28 Jan 1734

I have tried to find another Adam Underwood in Ashfordby that would fit with no luck and am sure of the 2 middle marriages as children and grand children are mentioned in his will, which i have.

The first and last marriages, i`m not sure of and he would have been about 33 on that first one, so was he married before that one.

His birth year is calculated from his grave stone which says he was nearly LXXX111 and buried 30 May 1743

Can any one help me work out if the first and last marriages are mine and if he was married previously please.

Oh bummer, i put the wrong year in the first marriage, tried to correct it and must have pressed the wrong button. Its right on the quote though.

Thank you Diddy, i shall send for that, though i expect him to be illigitimate, going by the death cert.

This was a wrong death cert, but i am trying to figure out if Eliza Gough is mine, she would have been 18 and parents died in 1844 and 1845, her youngest siblings were in the workhouse.

I`m having trouble finding another suitable Eliza Gough born 1829 Leicester in 1841 and i can`t find her in 1851.

Marriage cert has arrived, they married 6 May 1863 in the Archdeacon Lane Chapel, which is baptists.

William`s father was John Gough (deceased) occupation Tailor, which is correct.

Bonus is Harriet Bull was one of the witnesses, who`s marriage cert (1852) i am waiting on to proove she belongs to this family.

Harriet/Harrott Gough was baptised in Leicester, every census, but 1841 says she was born in Northampton, but thats a whole new story for me to chase.
