World War One / Records... follow your gut instincts!
« on: Saturday 16 August 14 15:31 BST (UK)  »
Just wanted to share this :)

Im currently working on a roll of honour for our local church St Peters Hartshead.WYR

Theres a lad on there Charles W Rennison who I've got lots of info on BUT all evidence is he's from York 30 miles away! how did he fit in?...Id just had an email from a distant relative too saying they had photo as well.... fantastic I'm thinking  :)

But something  was niggling me..... I just felt  may have wrong lad.

After a couple of hours checking I searched again and a similar name pops up on Reform School admissions Leeds and a bit more delving finds this lad was sent to a Mr Dobbings Littlethorpe Hartshead....to top it off it says joined 3/4th West Ridings ....Back to the medal Rolls ....Hes mis transcribed Renninson ...Presumed dead 3rd Sept 1916 with 1/4th West Ridings the local TF unit
It all fits neatly into place now  :)

So all you researchers who are hitting brick walls etc follow your gut instincts you will prevail !
Still can't find Mr Dobbings on the census though somewhere in Liversedge??
