Canada Lookup Request / Re: Obituary of a cousin in Toronto
« on: Wednesday 30 September 20 16:13 BST (UK)  »
Grant was born in 1925. His sister married but had no children so the ones in the funeral reports would be Grant's. They did live next door to his parents for a while. It seems the house was sold a little while ago so I assume Shirley-Joyce's husband, Gilbert Dyer, moved out. Alex was born in Scotland and Maud in South Wales.  They met and married in Canada. Thanks for your help, everyone.

Canada Lookup Request / Obituary of a cousin in Toronto
« on: Tuesday 29 September 20 17:44 BST (UK)  »
I had a cousin, Grant Fisher, who died about fifteen years ago in Toronto. Would there be an obituary online for such a recent death? He was the son of Alexander Baillie Fisher and Maud May Fisher. I have their obituaries from the Toronto Star. Grant had a wife whose name I don't know and three children who are named in the grandparents' obituaries. Grant had a sister, Shirley-Joyce, also now deceased.

The registration district for my father is Pontypool, where the town of Abergavenny is. This is what I've entered but, on his profile, it says Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. They've either changed Pontypool or Abergavenny to Costa Rica.

My father's death is shown as Costa Rica when, in fact, he died in Abergavenny.

Remember the GRO now supply birth and death certificates in PDF form. These are four pounds cheaper than the usual certs and are an exact copy of them. They can't be used for legal purposes but are fine for family research. They don't do marriages yet. I ordered a couple of these just before lockdown and received them two weeks ago so the office is working, albeit a bit slower than usual.

The Blaenau Gwent registration district is a fairly new name for what used to be Bedwellty. I live there. If he was born in this area his birth cert will probably say Bedwellty.

I've just sent for that. It'll solve the marriage query one way or the other. Thanks for your help.

These are my husband's gt. gt. grandparents.  Henry died in 1874 and Anne remarried to John Small. I'm anxious to go back further with Henry but, with a name like that, there are multiple choices of Henrys.

I thought they were a bit young but it's the only marriage that fits. That's what made me wonder if there was another child before John and that was the reason they married so young. Thanks for looking.
