Thanks Moira,

Can I ask what an Estate File is?  Would that be to do with property or belongings something like that.

South Africa / Louis John Ainger South African Army
« on: Thursday 19 February 09 12:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me, I am looking for any details on Louis John Ainger.

This is what I know about him

Born:-  1881 St Pancras, London

Census 1881:- Living in St Pancras, London with parents and siblings.

Census 1891:- Living in Islington, London with parents and siblings.

No other UK records of him

Died:- 1917 Dieppe, France.

Louis died whilst serving with the South African Native Labour Corps leaving a wife and children.

My interests are:-

1. When did he go to South Africa?

2. Marriage

3. Children

4. Why did he join South African Army and not British (are you able to do this if you  married a South African).

Any help with this would be greatfully received.

Many thanks
Kim

Hi Carol

Thanks for your reply.  I have the family from 1841 to 1901 on census with their name spelt in many different ways.

I have today locate the baptism records through a link I found on this site.

Thanks again

Kim
