Huntingdonshire / PEACH/AYRES
« on: Monday 30 October 06 20:49 GMT (UK)  »
John Peach was born c.1788 in Sawtry St Andrew , Huntington He married Elizabeth Ayres however without going through the parish records we have been unable at this stage to trace their marriage date. Preliminary research has found that Elizabeth Ayres was born c.1795 in Werington, Huntington.

On the 1841 Census John is shown as being aged 53 and an agricultural labourer. Elizabeth is shown as being aged 45. They are shown as having children these are named as 7 children (there could have been more who were born and died between census years. These children are John (20), William (15) Robert (15), Susan (12), Richard (9), Ann (3) and Elizabeth (1).

On the 1851 Census John is shown as being aged 62 and is listed as still working as an agricultural labourer. Elizabeth is shown as being aged 56. They have 4 of their children living with them Robert (25) and Richard (19) who are both listed as being agricultural labourers, while Ann (13) and Elizabeth (10) are both scholars.

On the 1861 Census John is shown as being aged 72 and is listed as working as a woodman. Elizabeth is shown as being aged 66. Living with them is their daughter Elizabeth (20) who is listed as being unmarried and their granddaughter Eliza (5) listed as a scholar.

On the 1871 Census John is shown as being 81 and a woodman. Elizabeth is still alive and aged 76. Elizabeth their daughter is still living with them being listed as unmarried and aged 30. Eliza their granddaughter is now aged 16 and also still living with her grandparents.

From the information we have managed to gather we believe that John Peach died in 1873 (BMD reference Dec, Huntington, ref 3b volume 139). Unfortunately the searches Elizabeth’s death have been so far unsuccessful.

hi any additional info on this family would be deep appreciated thanks Michele
