Don't know if this will be of any help, but there used to be a boat that ferried from Rosneath to Rhu near Helensburgh.  Also, similarly there was a boat ferrying from Kilcreggan to Gourock.  Kilcreggan is only a short walk from Rosneath and I think they are both in Argyll & Bute.

A fair used to come to Paisley during the first two weeks of August, which locally is called the "Paisley Fair".  It used to take place at St James Park which is not too far from Love Street.
