Hi Val,

I can see this family in the IGI and various census years now, along with a few other children: Mary Anne (looks like she may have died an infant), Hannah Mary, Eliza A and Thomas. Not sure why I overlooked this family in the past.

What I can't find is any record of the marriage between John 1815 and Jane Robinson 1818. I guess this probably happened after the Lythe marriage records in the IGI finish (1837). Did you obtain their marriage certificate to find out Jane was a Robinson? I guess it's more likely that you got this from Sarah Jane's birth certificate actually.

All the best,
JB.

Hi Val,

Very interesting, this looks like one of the John Lawsons from my tree. Baptised 1 Oct 1815 Hutton Mulgrave, parents John Lawson b1779 and Margaret Corner.

I just looked in the IGI but couldn't find the marriage of John b1815 and Jane Robinson b1818. I guess Sarah Jane's siblings are probably in the IGI because I found her in there. I'd love to hear where you got the details on this family from.

All the best,
JB.

Hi Val,

I have rather a lot of Lawsons from around Lythe but didn't yet have Sarah Jane - most of my details came from the earlier Lythe records, so I don't have a great deal from 1837 onwards. I've just had a look on the IGI and see a Sarah Jane Lawson baptised Lythe 5 Dec 1847, daughter of John and Jane Lawson. Do you know anything of her parents John and Jane? I have a couple potential John Lawsons from Lythe in my tree.

JB.

Hi Bernard and Val,

I am directly descended from Dorothy Lawson's father, William Lawson b1753. The only information I have on the Meads is the marriage of Dorothy and William Mead in 1818, and what looks like a baptism of a child of Dorothy's before wedlock, Richard Lawson baptised 1816 in Lythe.

I believe we are already in touch via email Bernard, so if Val or anyone else is interested in what I have on the Lawsons I'd be happy to oblige.

I brought this to Ancestry's attention a few weeks ago. After shouting at the various automated responses that came back, eventually a human answered and claimed they would deal with it. I've heard they're not particularly fast at rectifying missing census pages though.

I did find via their free trial that www.thegenealogist.co.uk has Plumbland 1841; I'm considering defecting when my Ancestry subs are up for renewal.

Hi RedFox,

Thanks for the tip. Looking at 1841 on Ancestry I can now see what appear to be three of my Grahams living in various houses around Gilcrux.

Hi Janis,

Thanks a lot for the lookup. Do you happen to know if there are any local churches not covered by the index?

Thanks again,
JB.
