Hi, 

I've never had to use the England board before and hope I'm posting in the correct place

I am looking for information on my 3g Uncle, Andrew Hall Burn. He was born in Lilliesleaf Roxburghshire Scotland on 2/9/1857. I have followed him up to the 1881 census, then nothing. My 3g grandfather, Andrews father, died in Scotland in 1902 and Andrew was the informant. He gave his address at that time as being 7 Goodwin Road, Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush, London.

I am hoping that some kind person has access to the 1891 and 1901 census and would do a look up for him. My Granny's cousin who died 5 years ago in her 90's told me her mother had said Andrew went to London to work for someone who kept company with Gladstone. I'm keen to find out if there was any family. Granny's cousin was sure he had married and had at least 3 children.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I am booked for the day to visit the Heritage Hub, Archive Centre in Hawick, Scottish Borders, this Thursday 29th Jan. They hold the OPR's, census and MI books among other things for Berwickshire, Roxburghshire, Peeblesshire and Selkirkshire.

As I am mainly going to help a friend who has just started out on the family history trail. I thought I would offer to do look ups. If anyone would like me to look something up please give me as much detail as possible because census's and opr's are not indexed, it's a case of trawling, as you probably know. I really would need to know the places, dates etc.

If there are a few look ups requested I will do my best to get as many done as possible .

Third photo, is the woman back left the same person as the other 2 photos? Also if anyone can put the missing 'part' of OH's mother onto picture I would be really grateful, I'm no good at that She is the girl front left.

I've been going through some photos I have and I'm hoping to get some confirmation of who they are and dates please.

The first is my 3g grandfather William Burn (according to my granny's cousin) b 1819  d  1881 I don't know who the boy is with him I am assuming his son. There were 5 sons b 1851, 1857, 1861, 1862 and 1865. I think it will be William b 1865. There wouldn't have been any grandchildren this old when he died in 1881

The second photo of the 4 children, could they be Williams.
James 1851, Sarah 1853, Jessie 1855 and Andrew 1857.

Or is the more likely option his daughter Sarahs children,  John b 1877, Frances b 1880 (my 2g grandmother), Agnes b1881 and Jessie b 1883.   

I've no idea at all about dates and clothes

This as a photo of my g grandparent Thomas and Frances Borthwick nee Roxburgh. Their 3 children are my grandmother Isabella, holding her mother’s arm, Agnes sitting in the middle and Jean sitting on the table. Thomas was in the 7th Bn Kings Own Scottish Borderers and was killed in action shortly after this photo was taken. He died on the 25th September 1915 at the Battle of Loos. My g grandmother never married again and brought up her 3 daughters  on her own.

Recently at a family funeral my dad’s cousins, a daughter to Jean and a daughter to Agnes found out I had been doing my ‘tree’ for many years and asked if they could have a copy. I am in the process of collating the part of my family that concerns them and I thought it would be nice if I could have this photo of their mums and grandparents coloured. So I am APPEALING ;'(  to my fellow restorers would someone PLEASE colour it for me, I am meeting up with the cousins in less than two weeks and I’m not even past first base learning to colour…infact I’m not at any base yet.

I don’t have the original photo so if it’s no good let me know what I have to do. Hope it comes out okay
