The WWI Draft Registration card says he was living at 709 No. Hill in Globe, Ariz.  He was born 9 Jan. 1887.  He had filed first papers for naturalization.  He was employed as a miner for Ariz. Com. Co. in Globe.  He was single with no dependents.  He had prior military service as a private in the state infantry for 3 years.  He was short with a stout build, brown eyes, and brown hair.

His gravestone is here:  http://arizonagravestones.org/view.php?id=39489

I was hoping John would drop in and give some Pennsylvania insight.   :)  Black Diamond Mine and Pittsburgh Coal look like they might fit.  Gavin's handwriting wasn't great.

The California voter records don't have age or place of birth listed, so searching by those things wouldn't narrow the results in that database any further.

The 1930 Census on Ancestry doesn't show any entries for Simpson, Pennsylvania, so maybe it went under the name of a larger town?  I'm not coming up with any Mulloys or Malloys in Lackawanna County that seem to match Bernard.

Cook County Death Index says Frank G. O'Lone died 23 Jul. 1979 and John A. O'Lone died 29 May 1989.  They are both in the Social Security Death Index, as well.  I also found Theresa in the Cook County Birth Index as being born 14 Mar 1923 and she's in the Social Security Death Index with a death date of 18 Nov. 1999.

I found some information about Frank's marriage, an article with a picture that may be of this family, an article about the engagement of Frank's son, and a few other things, so I'll send those via PM.

I didn't see any matches in the California Voter Registrations for his full name.  If I recall correctly, they don't generally list middle names on those lists.  When I searched for James Newman, there were over 900 matches.  Unless you know where he might have gone in California, it would be hard to determine if any were him.

I think I found Mary and Madeline on a bordering crossing from Canada to the US.

They were on the SS Corsican from Liverpool 10 Aug. 1911 to Quebec.

Knight, Mary Ellen, age 46, widowed, occupation - housekeeper, last permanent residence - Opastya (?), Russia, nearest relative in country from whence she came - bro-in-law A.H. Knight, Derryhill (?), Oxtow, Chesire, final destination - Denver, Colo., previously in Denver 17 (years?) 1908, going to join friend Mrs. (?) T.R. Field, 737 Clarkson St., Denver, 5'3" tall, medium complexion, grey hair & eyes, born Liverpool, England

Knight, Madeline Lillian, age 17, single, US Cit., born Denver, Colorado, 5'5" tall, medium complexion, brown hair, gray eyes

On an incoming passenger list for SS Carmania to Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland from NY arriving 12 Apr 1908, there is F.C. Knight, age 42;  Mrs. Knight, age 40;  and Madeline Knight, age 14.

You're welcome.

A Google search for 100 Lake Shore Drive brings up a number of references to a wealthy man named Potter Palmer and his wife Bertha, so I guess that's the family Arthur was going to work for.  There's a reference to a big event that Bertha was holding earlier that year:  http://chicagohistory-sharonwilliams.blogspot.com/2008/09/labor-and-lady-unusual-pairing.html
