Hi,

I've been helped out with a few photograph dates recently, so it would be much appreciated if this one could be looked at as well.

I've got it as early 1870s, mainly because I've been told it's my 3rd great-grandparents. He died in 1874 and she in 1880.

The back is unfortunately not scanned but if needed, I'll try my best to get that done.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Another few to date - completed.

Hope I'm not pushing my luck ... ;D

Another two to date; I'm undecided whether they are the same person but they do appear to share similar features such as the prominent eyes and general mouth shape.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Date please.

Hi all,

It would be much appreciated if someone could date this photograph of what could be an elderly ancestor. We have our thoughts on who it could be (namely someone born in 1825?); however, we don't have much knowledge of the dress style at the time so really, we're taking blind guesses.

I have three more of an (or several) elderly woman/women which may or may not be the same person. If anyone wants to join us in analysing noses and eyebrows, I'd be happy to post them! ;D

I can also try and get a scan of the backs - something I forgot to do when I had the chance. From memory, this one is quite thin card with a plain back. It could also have slight rounded corners.

The Common Room / Genes Reunited contact request, please.
« on: Saturday 15 January 11 21:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone. :)

I have managed to find a close contact to my family on Genes Reunited, who may hold details that would add a lot to my tree. However, my sub for the site ran out a long time ago and I am hesitant to renew it for this one contact (::)). Could I be as cheeky to ask if anyone would be willing to send on a message for me and include my e-mail address, for them to contact me out of site?

I will pass on details privately through PM, of course. :)

Down / Montgomery family
« on: Thursday 08 July 10 00:20 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I would be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of some records that would help me fill out my Montgomery family in Ireland. :)

I have Robert Montgomery, born c. 1841 in Ireland to Hugh Montgomery, coal miner and Mary Ann Montgomery m.s. Gibson (names from Robert's d.c. 1898; father supposedly still alive at that time).

I next have his marriage to Margaret Jane Colville (1st January 1878) @ Ballygrainey Presbyterian Church in Bangor. After that, they came to Scotland. Robert appears on the 1881 census; however, there is no sign of Margaret. A son Robert (my 2x great-grandfather) was supposedly born c. 1880 in Scotland; however, no record of this can be found.

Hoping someone can help here. :)

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Can anyone identify this monument/fountain?
« on: Monday 22 February 10 23:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

Can anyone identify the fountain/monument in the following photograph? I have no approximate dates or anything for it, but I do know it will be the UK. At least I think so. My folks didn't do much travelling. ;D

Hi everyone,

I am looking for the birth of a Billy [probably William at reg.] born around the mid-40s. His mum's maiden name was Lamb and he could be either registered under Lamb [before marriage?], Crow [first marriage, 1943] or Brown [second marriage, 1946]. I am also searching for his death. He died in an accident in his teens, so possibly the late 50s, early 60s. Both birth and death probably in Middlesbrough but I'm just clueless to when exactly he was born, etc. ???

Any help would be very appreciated. :) :)

Canada Lookup Request / Kennedy, 1930, Glasgow to Halifax (completed)
« on: Monday 25 January 10 03:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I have a couple who travelled to Canada to stay in 1930. Alexander Kennedy and Jemima Kennedy (ne้ Taylor) departed from Glasgow on the "California" on the 13th December 1930. Alexander was a caretaker and aged 52, his wife was 51. As far as I can tell, their destination was Halifax but I'm not sure if they intended to stay there permanently. They only had one daughter I know of; Mima, b. 1906.

I have looked on the Vital Records site for Nova Scotia but I can't see any deaths for this couple. Are there any other records I should be aware of?

Thanks,
hume :)
