Can anyone give me any advice on this one? I have just bought a new shiny Macbook Pro running OSX Maverick. My old PC, which was XP has all my family tree info (30 trees, some with over 1000 names) on it.........using Family Tree Maker version 8! Is there anyway of transfering this? Should I buy FTM for Macs and is it compatible or am I going to have to resort to converting all the info into Gedcoms and using something else.
Is there any other software (free would be good, the coffers are now depleted somewhat!) that anyone recommends?

Thanks again Jennifer for your attention to this query. It is good to know the Howsagoe connection and have an idea where the name came to be combined with Faulkner. It is very good of you to look up the baptismal records. It does look though from the writing in the bible that the dates of birth for Percy (?) and Gladis are 1837 which looks more that they are contempories of William rather than husbands/wives of the above children of William and Martha. I have found William aged 15 in the 1851 census but his siblings do not include these two. I am hoping to hear from the two blood relations soon about a home for the bible
