Huntingdonshire / Re: Have probate, but cant find actual death

On Freebmd, every single Patrick death for Mar Q 1951 is missing -

You can look at the GRO index for where Patrick names should be in this quarter on freebmd by searching the surname Paton which brings up the right sheet. However there are no Patrick deaths listed in March qtr 1951 it goes Paton - Patrickson - Partridge

Australia / Re: Delivery time for UK certificates
« on: Saturday 03 October 15 10:38 BST (UK)  »
I have ordered certificates this evening (Tuesday 29 Sep) and have been given a despatch date of Tuesday 6 October so just one week before they are despatched.

Rosie

Well GRO and the Royal Mail have done really well.  ;D  ;D

As I said earlier I ordered certificates Tuesday evening, three out of the four have arrived this morning (Saturday) by 10am second class post. They are not due for despatch until next Tuesday.
I think that is excellent service all round   :)

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: John Austen Macey
« on: Saturday 03 October 15 08:38 BST (UK)  »
When he married Mary Scott in 1823 his name is transcribed on familysearch just as Macey.  Have you seen the original record, does that give a middle name. Who were the witnesses.

Very often middle names which are 'surnames' are children born illegitimately and their fathers name has been added as an additional christian name

Monmouthshire / Re: Ernest Clark(e) and family - Bedwelty

There is no Julia Winifred Clarke on the last census with the family.  The child who has been crossed out who has presumably died had a different first name. The number of children to the couple matches the number shown on the form including the crossed out one.

I can see a birth registration for J W Clarke on freebmd, have you evidence that she is a child of the family.  The child crossed out appears in 1904 Dudley birth registration index though could have died anywhere.

I would agree that it begins with a W - there is another entry at the bottom of the page for Worsal, Staffordshire and it looks the same as that W.

I am thinking Worzely

Thank you Peggypatch, will take a look at it

I am curious as to why RC changed my original F M P (minus the spaces) to the full name. :-\

It has been doing that for a while now  ;D    Does not seem to do it for all the variations of Ancestry though.

I appreciate your post msr  ;D  I don't have a world sub and my short cut to log in does not take me to the home page (my choice) so I would have missed it. I asm sure there will be others like me.

Thank you

It is indeed 'down south' , London according to peggypatch, and accents can always be a problem.

I should have read the whole post  ;D

I wondered about that msr

I presume the census is 'down south' going by the other entries - could we have a reference please so we can look at the rest of the page.
