Wexford / Re: John Connolly born c. 1822 in Co. Wexford

Hi,

Thanks for this info - it all looks good and ties in with dates etc., except for the baptism of Alice and the father's name of Cleary - can you decipher the notes written in the last column?  I would appreciate your opinion.

Thanks once again for your prompt reply.

Wexford / John Connolly born c. 1822 in Co. Wexford
« on: Thursday 17 August 17 20:36 BST (UK)  »
Seeking information on John Connolly and his wife Alice Scallan? from RC Parish records.  Alice was born in Co. Wexford too and they were married there in the 1850's.  Two of their four children (Alice 1853 and Margaret Maria 1864)  were born in Wexford, possibly Bridgetown.  The family came to live in Liverpool where two other children were born, (Francis Joseph 1867 and Catherine 1870).
Would be very grateful for any information.  Thank you.

Hi,  I was very interested in your posting re. Samuel Gilbert the son of Mary Radford and William Gilbert.  Mary and William are my 3x great grandparents and unfortunately I have very little information about them other than their marriage and the birth of five children in Tavistock but have no knowledge of your Samuel.  If you would like to send me a personal message we can exchange any information we have, if this is our mutual family.

Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Pre 1837 Plymouth Parish Records - Louisa STRIKE
« on: Sunday 03 July 11 19:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Thanks for your posting in reply to mine.    As you will see I posted my enquiry, some four years ago, on behalf of another person who was interested in the Strike family but have since lost touch with him.  I’m sorry I don’t have Louise in my family tree but I do have an Edward Strike – date of death approx.  Feb. 1812 in St. Cleer.  He married Sarah Gundry 19th April 1780 in St. Cleer and they had six children.    Edward was my 4 x gt. grandfather.  My info is from St. Cleer church records.  If you have any Strike/Strick/Stick’s in the St. Cleer area I’d be happy to hear further from you.

Thanks again.  Isi.

Hi TimW & Dotty,

Thank you both for your interest in my little puzzle and for your input.

I agree that perhaps sight of a marriage certificate for Albert Edward Waddington might reveal who his father was but even if he was a Waddington, I still can't find a marriage for Sarah Jane Lowe/McCartney to a Waddington.

If I find any more information I'll post it on this site.

Thanks once again.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for contacting me regarding the Lomax family.  I've had a look at your web site and although we both have some people with the same names the dates do not tie-in, so I'm sorry to say that I can't find any connection.

I'll keep your web site in my records and contact you in the future should I find any connection.

Isi.

PS  Hope you enjoy this site -  I've had lots of help from 'Rootschatters' in the past and hope they can help you too.  Best wishes.

Hi Mo and Wozzle,

Thanks for your replies.  To answer the questions you raised - on the 1891 census Sarah Jane is listed as married (to Richard McCartney) and on the 1911 census it states she has been in the current marriage (presumably to William Stevenson) for nineteen years which means that she moved in with William in approx. 1892.

The marriage record you found Mo is indeed interesting but it has just confused me even more, although I think that this is probably the correct record - but when did she become a Waddington?

Thanks again for your input.

Lancashire / Please can anyone throw any light on the following enigma.

Sarah Jane Lowe b. 1863 in Earlestown. She married Richard McCartney in Accrington in 1882 and had three children. In 1891 she is living in Accrington with her children but no husband. In 1901 she is living with William Stevenson as his wife with their children, together with her McCartney children, in Giles St., Padiham. I cannot find a marriage record for this couple or a death record for Richard McCartney. In 1911 she is still with William Stevenson and their children in Giles St., but also listed is one of her McCartney children (Nellie) under the name of Waddington. Her other two McCartney children(Albert Edward and Arthur) are listed but again under the names of Waddington and then crossed out. Albert Edward Waddington is living nearby with his wife and family. I cannot think of any explanation of why these McCartney children should change their name to Waddington.
Would be interested to hear any thoughts on this.
Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the info on church records for the Gilbert family in Tavistock  This has been confirmed by another Rootschatter and I'm so grateful for all your help.  Hopefully we can now make further progress.

Thanks once again for your time and efforts.
