Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Croxton Parish register or Cambs Baptism Index - MEEKS
« on: Tuesday 12 February 13 07:22 GMT (UK)  »
Thomas MEEKS married Elizabeth SMITH in Croxton on 10 Feb 1792. I'm looking for any children baptised in Croxton before 1801 (I have an old edition of the Cambs Baptism Index 1801-37 which gives me 1801 onwards baptisms), particularly William Meeks born or more probably baptised on 19 May 1793. American researchers show him marrying in 1805 - age 12!!! I think he married in 1814 in Croxton.

Meeks is sometimes spelt MINKS

If possible could you also confirm the exact baptism date of John MINCKS in Croxton in 1815

Many thanks in advance

David

If anyone has access to the marriage index I'd be very grateful for a look up for any additional detail on the above marriage, particularly Joseph's parish of residence if other than Weston Favell

Many thanks in advance

Northamptonshire / William Rabbit Possible marriage in Northants c1800
« on: Wednesday 29 August 12 22:26 BST (UK)  »
I have a William Rabbit and wife Mary baptising children in Renhold, Beds, where Joseph was born, from 1803 onwards. In the 1803 Muster List for Renhold he's shown as having two children so presumably the first was born elsewhere. In 1841 Mary gave her birthplace as Not Beds. There's no marriage for them in Beds on the IGI, nor on Hunts Marriage Index, so I wonder if he may have married in Northants.

I'd be very grateful if someone could check the Index for such a marriage

Many thanks

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Bedford Archives
« on: Monday 30 July 12 18:27 BST (UK)  »
If anyone someone is going to the Archives in the foreseeable future I'd be very grateful for a look up in Stotfold parish register for a marriage on 11 Feb 1815 between Richard Charles and Catherine Cornell. I'm particularly interested in Richard's marital status - widower or bachelor.

There is a Richard Charles baptised in Stotfold in 1764 age 6, whose wife Elizabeth age 60 was buried in 1813. But Catherine was buried in 1824 age 30 which puts her age on marriage as 19, at which time Richard, if it's the same Richard, would have been 55. But Richard was Baptist and the births of some of his children were recorded in Biggleswade Baptist Church Book, but there's no son named Richard. But equally there's no sign of a Richard after the burial of Richard aged 81 in 1837.

No rush

Many thanks in advance

United States of America / New York Passenger list
« on: Friday 13 July 12 14:30 BST (UK)  »
New York passenger lists show a John Rook landing in New York in 1866. I'm keen to know if this is my John Rook from Broom, Bedfordshire. If anyone has access to the the full entry I'd be keen to have details of the full entry, and whether there were any Rooks or Albones travelling with him.

Similarly, in 1868 three Albones landed in New York. Sarah, George and Hzcary. Sarah and George were also from Broom.  Again if anyone has access to the entries I'd be very grateful for the full entry.

John Rook married Sarah Albone, probably in New York state as I can't find a marriage in England, and it seems as though they came from the same hamlet.

Many thanks in advance

The NBI shows a burial in Croxton on  3 Nov 1767 of Mary Chandler. If anyone has access to the PR transcript I'd be very grateful for a look up to see if she was described as wife of John (wife of John of Eynesbury would be even better, but I'm not usually that lucky!)

Many thanks

Cambridgeshire Completed Lookups / COMPLETED Croxton marriages look up please

John Chandler married Mary Vessey on 27 Oct 1758 in Croxton, and John Chandler widower of Eynesbury married Mary Cam in Croxton on 13 Feb 1768 (both per Phillimore's Marriages). I'm pretty sure it's the same John Chandler but would appreciate a look up to see who the witnesses were at each marriage.

Many thanks in advance

Huntingdonshire Lookup Requests / Eynesbury PR transcript - Jemima CHANDLER
« on: Thursday 24 May 12 09:35 BST (UK)  »
I'd be very grateful for a look up in Eynesbury parish register transcript, for the baptism of Jemima Chandler on 14 July 1774. It's on the IGI as a member submission, which I always view with great suspicion, particularly as in this case there are two other member submissions showing Jemima was baptised at Gt Paxton on 14 July 1773!

Many thanks in advance

I very rarely venture east of Cambs but I’m helping a friend (well actually I’m doing all the work) and his DALLASTON family were, for a couple of generations, in Stonham Aspall. If anyone has access to the parish register or a transcript I’d be very grateful for some help in confirming entries which are in online trees, or seeing if there’s any extra detail in events on the NBI or the IGI.

Marriage
20 Sep 1797 John Dallaston/Ann Soar. Is it real, and what other detail is given?
19 Jun 1811 John Dallaston/Ann King. Was John a widower?
22 Nov 1803 Robert Dallaston/Mary Keeble. IGI member submission. Is it real?
c1813 Robert Dallaston/Susannah. She gives Stonham Aspall as her birthplace in censuses, so I’m hoping she married there.

Burials
5 Jan 1800 Priscilla Miller Dallaston, infant. Are her parents named?
11 Aug 1808 Ann Simpson Dallaston age 34. Was she wife of John?
25 Feb 1810 James Dallaston age 3. Parents?
14 Sep 1810 Anne Dallaston age 2 Parents?
9 Aug 1822 Anne Dallaston age 28. Any other detail? Another wife of John perhaps, but she seems a bit young to have been Ann King, although John was buried on the same day.

Baptisms
c1798 John Dallaston
c1802 Elizabeth Dallaston
9 May 1803 Harriett Dallaston (IGI member submission)
c1805 Sarah Dallaston
c1807 James Dallaston (as above burial)
c1808 Anne Dallaston (as above burial)
All probably children of John and Ann.

By his assumed second wife all John’s childrens’ births were registered in Dairy Lane Baptist church book, Ipswich, which hasn’t helped in trying sort them out.

Hope it’s not too much to ask for! Many thanks in advance

David
