Not much but it is in the Roy Map and the 1852 map located here https://maps.nls.uk/counties/rec/7180

As for info on William other than what you obviously found in Scotland's People I do not see anything on him including the Newspaper Archives.

Lanarkshire / Re: Carluke farm
« on: Sunday 03 October 21 19:52 BST (UK)  »
The farm was called Yieldshields and an owner in 1770 was James Martin. It is East of the town of Carluke.  Martin's were originally portioners of this farm the other portioners were Thomas Cleland and Archibald Forrest.  The Superior of these lands at that time was a General Lochhart of Carnwath. This from the Directory of Land Ownership.

An era map can be found here https://maps.nls.uk/counties

Then by 1855 a James Martin held several farms and rented others.
Which you can find here https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk then go People Search and select Valuations and select 1855.

At this time (1855) Yieldshields was still held by a Forrest but now Sir Norman MacDonald and Wm Muirhead and William Wilson were also landowners.

Lanarkshire / Re: Lanarkshire family name as middle name ?

There are at least 2 John Baird Park's, yours is one the other in Ayr.  I have two with Baird as second given name with no connection to a Baird.  Then again I have many Baird's with second given names which are surnames, some are connected to the family most are not.

I was disappointed.  I was expecting to see a chair with long legs.

But I did learn something I had not known before and so I thank you.
