For Sale / Wanted / Events / Banner family tree charts - why pay high prices?
« on: Friday 06 October 06 18:00 BST (UK)  »
When we founded the business five years we bought an Epson Stylus 1520 printer which allowed us to print up to 34.5 cm deep on the 42 cm banner paper we use.

We have now purchased an Epson Stylus Pro 4400 printer which allows us to print up to a depth of 41.4 cm on the same paper.

We can still print a maximum of 45 metres wide - but that restriction is imposed by the paper roll :-)

So, if your chart is wide but not particularly deep why not check our prices before you place your order. You could end up saving a fair bit.

Graham

Couldn't reply direct because the topic is locked.

Just wanted to say that this type of item sometimes comes up on eBay so keep an eye out and you might be lucky.

Graham

For Sale / Wanted / Events / Five new CD titles from JiGraH Resources
« on: Thursday 20 October 05 20:42 BST (UK)  »
Hello List,

Seems it's fashionable to publicise new releases at the moment - so here's some from us :-)

Derby & District Trades Directory, 1903, £11 inc p&p. In addition to covering Derby and its immediate vicinity, the directory also covers the Burton-on-Trent area and the following places (with environs) in Derbyshire: Alfreton, Alvaston, Ashbourne, Bakewell, Baslow, Belper, Buxton, Castleton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Chesterfield, Claycross, Cromford, Dronfield, Eckington, Glossop, Hathersage, Heanor, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Matlock, Measham, Melbourne, Newhall, New Mills, Ripley, Staveley, Swadlincote, Tideswell, Whittington and Wirksworth. Entries are sorted by trade within town.

Kelly's Directory of Kingston, Surbiton, Esher & District, 1928, £12 inc p&p. As with many of these directories the map is missing (there is a mere stub left in the book). To compensate for this, eight pages (which cover the approximate area) have been included from the Authentic Map Directory of London & Suburbs 1924 (originally published by Geographia Ltd). The bottom right corner of the penultimate page of the Trades Section (Window Cleaners/Wines, Spirits) is torn away leaving names of 4 businesses but not addresses. The remainder of the directory is complete and comprises: Kingston-Upon-Thames topography (illustrated); Public officers & offices; Churches, chapel, institutions &c; Street directory; Private residents (alphabetical list); Commercial Directory (alphabetical list); Directories for the various areas in the Neighbourhood of Kingston; Professional and trades directory.

Jopson's Popular Guide to Carlisle, 1891, £4 inc p&p. The copy of this slim booklet which we obtained has lost its cover but all the contents are complete - sections being Historical; The City; The Cathedral; Free Library; The Castle; The Museum; Walks; Public Buildings and Miscellaneous Information The latter two categories include names of significant people of the time The text pages include the City Plan and the 4 illustrations in situ. Clicking on an image will open a separate window containing the illustration scanned at a greater resolution.

Kelly's Directory of Dorsetshire, 1923, £13 inc p&p. The directory contains two maps of Dorset: a copy of one originally drawn up in 1610 and one drawn for the directory. Both maps are slightly too large to scan in a single piece on an A3 scanner (whilst the whole of the county can be scanned in one, some of the legends at the edges of the map are cut off). In addition to scanning as much as possible of each map as a whole, therefore, they have also been scanned as overlapping left and right tiles which have subsequently been stitched together. All three scans plus the stitched version of each map have been included on the CD. Other than the maps the directory contains: Advertisements; Indexes; Towns and Villages Directory; Private Residents Directory; Trades & Professional Directory.

Map of Roman Britain, £6 inc p&p. This map was originally published by the Ordnance Survey in 1931. The map is scanned onto the CD as 9 tiles. Each of the tiles overlaps its  neighbours to ensure complete coverage. In addition to the map there are seven pages of text and an eight page index. Each of the map tiles, text and index are displayed in separate windows to enable ease of cross reference.

All available from our web site at http://www.jigrah.co.uk/mailord/mordercd.htm.

Graham
