Amazingly, even simce ths morning I have made some progress!!!  I have developed a theory that the mug was some sort of birthday present/reminder for Mary Thorpe who married Benoni Bugg (Sutton in Ashfield) and after his death married William  Rowe.

I have found her as Mary Rowe but struggling to find the records for her baptism/marriage to William and even the deaths for all 3 of them!!

A good theory? The date match

 :)
Does anyone have access to baptism records for Newark??

We have a christening mug for Mary Rowe, late Bugg giving a date of birth as 8 Nov 1785, Newark, Nottinghamshire

despite best efforts, I haven't yet tracked her or our links to Newark, since our Buggs seem to hail from South Normanton/Sutton in Ashfield.

TY

I'm doing some research into a Wilson family from Stamford, who made and repaired clocks

Does anyone have links with Joseph T Wilson, 1824-1874;
he was married to Fanny and had several children including Arthur Ralph (again a watchmaker - halifax) and Charles E (a singer!)

Apparently there are others; mostly having workshops in All Saints, Stamford- including Ralph Wilson (1729-1829; died in Peterborough)

Any info appreciated
