Very many thanks for searching and providing that information. J R was an uncle of my mother who she never met - tho he generously paid for his parents' headstone back in Scotland.
I get the impression that the maiden name of wives are not generally given in US censuses. Am I correct? Any idea how people overcome this problem?

With appreciation,
Jim

Many thanks Stephen for those speedy responses and for the information! Where do you view the US census info? All that I have are their arrivals info from Ellis Island.

I am seeking descendants in US of John Runciman from Berwickshire, Scotland, who arrived in US in 1910, aged 24. I believe he was employed at Ford Motor Co., Detroit, and that he married an American lady (see pic.). He probably died in 1960 in Wayne.

I'm seeking decendants in the US of this Scottish couple Agnes Runciman and Andrew ARNOT from Selkirk, Scotland. Agnes arrived in the US in 1909, and married Andrew in Detroit in 1909. From photo I guess that they had a daughter. Andrew Arnot probably died in Wayne, Detroit, in 1966 (from Social Security Records)
