Hi cherryberry, have just joined rootschat today and saw your offer of monumental inscriptions of jarrow cemetery look up and wondered if it would be possible for you to check whether you have the names Livingston/Livingstone or Garden.  Hebburn was my home town but my grandparents both came from Jarrow (James Street).  It is their parents/siblings I am interested in but any info on these names would be great.

Many thanks, lindyloobags

have sent you PM  :)

I came across this message and my brain went into over drive.
I found out some time ago that my grandmother lived a 1 Moor Lane Harton abt 1923  also. I took it just  as a house address and never questioned it,    a few months ago my uncle mentioned that my grandmother had been in the work house the story  was told  to him by an elder brother who was known for his tales <G> some years back. so we just thought it was one of his tall story's.   looks like it wasn't  I will have to look into it more closely.

hi cherryberry is it possible for you to check to see if you have a James Kenny/Kenny died 1873 aged 28yrs please
thanks cath

Hello Cath
Sorry to have taken so long in answering your query.  I have been sorting out all my family tree files etc and the room which took me longer than I thought . :-[

I think I am back on track, have looked though my Jarrow  Cemetery monumentals,  but can find no Kenney/Kenny  I have also looked around my other Jarrow burials but can find only one  James Kenney but he was the wrong age  12  and was buried at St  Paul's Jarrow.

I have looked at the Harton Cemetery  monumental also, sorry to say no one of that name there either.

Regards Cherryberry

I SEE ON THE LIST YOU HAVE THE NAME DOUGLASS LISTED PLEASE CAN YOU TELL ME ANY INFO ON THE DOUGLASS FAMILY IN JARROW AS MY GREAT GRANDFATHER AND FAMILY CAME FROM JARROW AND LIVED IN FERRY STREET. HE WAS A SHIP YARD BLACKSMITH.
WITH MUCH HOPE.
TRACY.

Hello Tracy
My Douglass  at first came from Newcastle then moved to  Hebburn which was The village next door to Jarrow   Edward Douglass married Georgina Rutherford  which is the main family I am researching.

They too worked at the shipyards  but most of the men form Jarrow and Hebburn either work in the Palmer's or Swan Hunters ship yards  or in
Hebburn mine

If our Douglass match up i will  be happy to  send you what i have, or if you need more info on my lot please just ask i haven't got much mind  as it not a family i have done much research on yet

Hello CherryBerry,

Might you by any chance have a James Handwood Diaper b.1831 d. 1874 on your list , also his baby son Alfred Kingston Diaper? They lived in the Westhoe district so I'm not sure whether they would have been buried in Jarrow?
Thankyou very much.
Vella

hello Vella  have looked on both harton and jarrow can find no mention  of the names you mention, but i am going to south shields on Wednesday so will have a look at the death register for Jarrow Cemetery

regards cherryberry :)

Hi Cherryberry,
If you had a mo would you look up Harrison in the Jarrow and Harton list for me.
My ancesters lived in this area from the early 1800's to relatively recently.

Hello CherryBerry,

Could you possibly search your records to see if there is any mention of any Hymers?

Keep up the great work!

"wondered if you could check the name COULTHARD for me - can only narrow it down to Jarrow and/or South Shields.

Absolutely no rush - I only found this lot today."

Happy New Year Cherry Berry, just getting back to this line an wondered if you had any luck with any Coulthards??

Many Thanks

KBG
