I have death certs for Giovanni and Sophia (I think for Sophia). I have a birth cert for Caroline, and her death cert. I have a birth cert for Fred (my great grandfather).

Fred BINI and William BINI (Pinder) were first cousins. Fred also made RSM in WW1 and he served in S.Africa, he was called home for the Kings coronation, which was delayed due to appendicitis.

I have Fred's medals and a swagger stick. I have some photos of him too and a comprehensive obituary for him.

Austin and Ellen BINI (nee MARSH), had 10 children, but only 4 made it to adulthood.

Albert Lucas PINDER was born in Crabtree (a village in W.Riding) 2nd March 1846. He was baptised 29th March 1846 at the Anglican Cathedral Church of St.Peter and St.Paul (W.Riding?). His mother was Ann PINDER (b.1829 Ashton-u-Lyne), Ann's mother was Martha PINDER. Ann later married Christopher SMITH (20 years her senior) and they had a further 5 children (Ann, Eliza, Loveney, Margaret and Thomas). I believe Christopher had a daughter from a previous marriage.

Albert and Ann were both listed as File Cutters and Christopher was also a File Cutter.

I private messaged you.

By the way,

Austin and Ellen (m. Nottingham 1873) had 10 children, only 4 survived into adulthood. Clara who you mention above, d. aged five, was one of their children. At some point they 'fell out' with the Catholic church. My grandmother told me that my "Italian great grandfather, did marble carving in Sheffield town hall". Due to Giovanni's death and the building of the town hall, I assume this must have been my 2 x g.grandfather, Austin.

Wow, how do you know all this stuff?

Giovanni is my 3 x G.grandfather and Austin BINI (b.1852) was my 2 x great grandfather. I have always wondered why he and Ellen were living separately in 1911, he is only a mile away (in Sheffield), I guess drinking heavily would explain this.

I would love to talk to you more about our shared ancestry.

Nottinghamshire / Re: Where was Kirk White Street, Nottingham?

That photo is from the 1970s, you can Google information about Nottingham's lost pubs. Sadly its no longer a pub and my dad has just told me the area was demolished, so the building is almost certainly gone.

There is a lot of information about the Cockaynes, which you may have already seen. Some can be found here:  http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/rollofhonour/People/Details/11454

Dublin / Re: KENNY - Sophia b.1810 Dublin

Hi Eadaoin,

Thank you for the suggestion.

My great, great grandfather was Austin (Sophia's youngest child), although I vaguely remember seeing a baptism for Augustine (Austin) and I wondered whether they just had Latinised the name for the Catholic baptism. His son, my great grandfather, was Frederick Austin and the youngest brother (AKA Sophia's grandson) was given the first name of Austin.

I have found an Augustine Kenny in the Tithe Applotment Books in 1825, Knocklow, Fennagh, Carlow, but without seeing any family I have no clue whether he is a relative. I now wonder whether the English emunerator just put down Dublin because he'd heard of it, or because Sophia said she was from there?

Still puzzled, :/

Dublin / KENNY - Sophia b.1810 Dublin
« on: Friday 01 April 16 02:20 BST (UK)  »
Good morning,

I have tried, so far in vain, to find any Irish relatives of my 3x gt grandmother.

Her name was Sophia KENNY. English Censuses say she was born in Dublin in 1810.

At some point she came to England.

She was married in Liverpool to Giovanni BINI, it appears to have been recorded as Catholic marriage at St.Nicholas Liverpool on  23rd May, 1836. Their names were misspelt as John Bone/Bene and Sophia Kenney. One of the witnesses appears to be James Prazzoni.

Their first known child, Caroline, was born in Warwick Street, Manchester on 26th October 1838 (surname is given as BENI).

The second child Teresa was born in Liverpool, the third a boy, Angelo George, in Wolverhampton, The fourth and fifth, Sophia (jnr) and Austin were born in Sheffield where the family settled.

I have looked for George and Austin KENNYs in the hope that Angelo's middle name or Austin's first name was that of Sophia's father, but I've found nothing that I can definitely link to my Sophia.

Please can anyone help or advise?

Thanks in anticipation,

Michelle
