So upsetting and frustrating when a novel has such basic historical facts wrong, it confuses people who have no knowledge at all of Australian History.

Wiggy you are right the exiles 1844-1849 to Victoria one of whom was an acestor of mine were only "convicts"  sent to Victoria they were considered free on their arrival.

Hi,
Without having the certificates it is hard to be sure who the persons in teh records actually are.

There is always the remote possibility that William and Elizabeth Buzzard returned to England and that the Elizabeth Buzzard with the son Frederick Winsor is not connected to the  William Buzzard that Tony is researching.

It would depend on the conditions of his departure to Australia. Athough I am sure that Tony has considered this possibilty.

hi Merlin ,

Lots in Trove on John Charles Buzzard he was a banker and died aged 38 with 20 service to his bank.

Lots on George Buzzard and  on Thomas Meredith Buzzard son of Charles Buzzard and the births and marriages of them and their children.

None seems relevent to William Buzzard in WA. It is intersting to note that teh majority of BUzards seem to be from Victoria and WA.

William Buzzard Death is in WA aged 62 1895 #905 parents unknown  registration district not given.

Just had a quick look at NZ, NSW, SA, and QLD records.

A quick check in births and marriages for a remarriage of Elizabeth or Buzzard births  was not really successful  :(  no births
marriages:
none for Elizabeth.
SA only an 1863  Samuel to Agnes Stevens and 1911 Marjorie to Malcolm Tweedie
in NSW 3 marriages  Millar Robert Buzzard in 1945,Brain Buzzard 1844, George Buzzard 1966

A 1892 QLD death for Alfred Ernest Buzzard aged 30 son of Thomas Meredith Buzzard and Elizabeth Ann Long #B25229 was the only Buzzard death I could find. nothing else for Buzzard born in Melbourne  (trove)
and
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/9368119?searchTerm=buzzard &searchLimits=l-category=Family+Notices|||l-decade=189

Millar/Buzzard marriage (death above in Qld)

Vincent/Buzzard marriage

Father George Buzzard.Lots of Buzzards in Melbourne

Think Tony is correct to rule the Millar/Buzzards out unless there is connection between Thomas Meredith son of (Charles Buzzard of Brixton) and George Buzzard and William Buzzard.

George Buzzard married Alice Fawcettt 1866/266 in NSW perhaps this is her.

Hi

http://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/Index.aspx

Elizabeth BUZZARD  1936 aged 84 in Anglican section in Karrakatta Cemetery

there are also several interesting  interments at Karrakatta

Patrick MILLAR BUZZARD aged 17 1969 in RC section
Jean BUZZARD aged of Prahran Victoria  1968  possibly mother of the above.

suggesting a connection with Millar Buzzard perhaps.

Frederick Stephen Winsor aged 67 in 1977 there is a grantee listed for this interment grant expires 2nd of July this year.

Frederick Alfred Winsor aged 73 in 1960 grantee named but grant expired
Elizabeth Winsor 67 in 1956 same grave as the above (the grantee of the above grave is also buried at Karrakatta.)

A query to the cemetery may also be useful Tony.

Trove has been useful and this might help as it has decendants names and suburbs:
BUZZARD.-On October 28, 1936, at Railway, Queen's Park, Elizabeth Buzzard, loved grandmother -of Mr and Mrs. A. Bettenesehi, of Wiluna. ,

BUZZARD.-On October 28, at Queen's Park. Elizabeth. the beloved mother of Frederick A. Winsor, mother-in-law of Elizabeth, fond grandma of Leah (Mrs.. Humphry, Queens Park), Fred, Daisy (Mrs. Betteneechi, Wiluna), Mark, Charlie, Connie, Edna, George, Dick and Lorna Winsor, great-grandma of Ray, Teddie and Frankie Humphry; aged 85 years. inserted by-her loving son and daughter-in law and grandchildren -

lots of info re Millar Buzzard family nothing to connect with your William Buzzard yet.
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/37468459?searchTerm=buzzard william&searchLimits=l-decade=192

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/27781332?searchTerm=buzzard william&searchLimits=l-decade=192

these articles suggests this William Buzzard was a returned service man however I cannot find any records for him in the archives from their files I think that they are referring to MILLAR Buzzard not WILLIAM Buzzard

Hi Tony,
That 1936  announcement is a riddle.

I found a Frederick Alfred Winsor son of Willam and Eliza died in 1960 #11 in Canning,

birth in Canning 1909 #4 no parents given,  Frederick S Winsorpossibly son of the first couple below:

marriages
Frederick A Winsor Elizabeth Gittings 1907 Perth #252
Frederick S Winsor Florence RP Checksfield 1936 Canning #21 possibly son of the above couple.

Just how it ties in with Eliza Buzzard is not easily recognisable. The birth was after William Buzzard's death.

As Eliza Buzzard died in Canning in 1936 there may be a connection as it is entirely possible that:
1) Buzzard used an alias of Winsor
2) she may have been in some form of relationship with a man surnamed Winsor
3) there is there a Winsor in either the Buzzard family or the Bolt family?

regards

Robyn
