Scotland / COMPLETED WITH THANKS death records pre 1855?

hi all,
after spending many hours looking at records on Scotland's people - soooo much better than english records!. i was wondering if any one can tell me why there are no death records before 1885 listed?. the reason i ask is that i generally assume that if a female is not listed in the marriage records then she has died without issue. would this be correct or do i assume too much and that there were really lots of kennaway spinsters?

but by far the most stangest name in my tree is strick (female) born in 1751 - poor child
