The Lighter Side / Re: PLEASE DON'T SHOUT.....

Not 100% certain, but I think you need to know the specific address you wish to view and not just a 'wily nily' look up.

Others on here can advise you better  :)

Lanarkshire / Re: George Craig,s parents.
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 18:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi Grandma,
Is a Lanarkshire place of birth correct?
If so, IGI has the following:

George Craig, born 10 May 1772, Glasgow, Lanark
parents James Craig and Margret Gay.

AND

George Craig, born 04 Mar 1793, Glasgow, Lanark
parents James Craig and Agnes Bain.

There are more George Craig (father James) listed, but these are the only two in the Lanarkshire area.

Sueky :)

The Lighter Side / Re: Every child with the same middle name?
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 13:48 BST (UK)  »
My two daughters both have the middle name Louise.
When I had my eldest daughter I let my mum choose her middle name.
Then 12 years later when I had my second daughter I gave her the same middle name so that they would have a 'bond' (they have different surnames)
My eldest thinks its quite cool and has promised to pass it on to her daughter(s)
I think I've unintentionally started a family tradition!  8)

Lincolnshire / Re: Wright??? .. or am I wrong
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 13:31 BST (UK)  »
John Coatsworth married Ellen Prestwood, 16 May 1860. Stow, Lincoln.
It's a submitted entry on IGI, but the only one in the right time/area.

The Common Room / Scottish national archives
« on: Saturday 07 June 08 18:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
Has anyone had any dealings with Scottish National Archives?
What I'm trying to find out is if you can order a copy of the documents they hold.
I've found a few relating to certain family members, and although a reference number and brief details are given, I can't seem to find a way to get hold of the documents (despite looking all over the site - am I missing something?)
Thanks
Sueky

Hi Jeenie,
Have searched for Harvey (Margaret and Agnes) and also Jenkins (Daniel and Margaret)
Also looked for General Dealers and Seamstresses and Nelson Street.

Unfortunately there's nothing listed that matches what you've given me  :(
It may be that there place of work was not there home address. In which case I found a possibility for Agnes?:
Harvey, Mrs, milliner and dressmaker, 6 Cathedral St.

There were other Mrs Harvey's listed. Those that had named occupations did not match Margarets and those without occuptations did not match with Nelson St. (if you would like the details on these Mrs Harvey's just let me know)

Sueky :)

Hi Jane,
You might find more information in:
Scottish National Archives, the Mitchell Library Archives or the Scotsman Newspaper Archives.
Not sure where else would be best to look.
Or you could always ask on the Scottish board  :)

Hi Jane,

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Found one reference to your Hutcheson & Dixon:

Hutcheson & Dixon, auctioneers, valuators and general agents, 8 and 12 Virginia St, Glasgow.

Hope this helps
