Mmmm, I've also got the same christian name for two living children.

Catherine McDonald marries Angus McDonald. Their first son is named John.
Angus dies when John is two and Catherine then marries Allan McDonald.
Four years later their first son is also named John.
On the subsequent census they are both listed. The older John is Wife's Son, whilst the younger is simply Son.
I had thought that maybe John (Son) was Allan's from a previous marriage, but I've located the birth records for both John's and they are the sons of Catherine and Angus and Catherine and Allan - very peculiar

I've just discovered that the hotel where my grandmother lived, whilst working as a housemaid there in 1939, is still up and running.
Should I email them and ask if they keep records of past employee's?

Hi,
I've recently found dozens of old BMD certs, receipts (for funerals, etc) and various other documents.
Most of them are in quite poor condition. Some are ripped, some are badly creased and a couple are sellotaped. All of them are really thin and fragile.
I'm not sure where's the best place to store them.
Any suggestions?
