Thanks for the reply.I am venturing on a completely new field but seem quite excited about it.The problem is that Shropshire archives are closed because of Covid but I have sent an enquiry to them and wait for the outcome.I have been able to download George Austin's will and Benjamin Prioleau was mentioned which was another bit of info.My other obstacle is not knowing his wife's surname because she was a widow when they married.

I am trying to find out if Benjamin Prioleau b1740 in ? died Derbyshire 1808 actually was born in Carolina. A George Austin  a tobacco plantation owner and slave trader brought  Benjamin back to Shifnal Shropshire around 1762 when George fell out with his partner and he brought two slaves back with him I have assumed be it right that Benjamin was one of the two.Benjamin was baptised at the age of 27 at Shifnal and by the side of the entry it says a blackman of Mr.Austin.Benjamin decribed now as a servant man goes on to marry a widow Margaret Mansell  in Shifnal.Benjamin is left 25 guineas in Mr Austin's will then described as his servant. At some point Benjamin and Margaret end up around the Buxton area of Derbyshire.
Are there any records available recording the names of slaves bought or any birth records available for this period. One of Mr Austin's plantations was called ShifnalAny help to steer me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

On the 1939 there are two entries for the address they are both unoccupied which makes me think that the house could have been separated into two.I have a reference to someone having died there in 1945  and I have seen a picture of just the wall having been left standing when the house was knocked down but I can't find when this would be.I was hoping someone may have access to a Kelly's Directory for around1946/7 or 8 to do a look up for no 37 Poole Rd.

Many thanks for showing interest
