New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Stewart death in New Zealand
« on: Wednesday 06 February 08 18:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Lucy and Christine

Thanks for the information. After going over my papers again I discovered that when I copied down the details from the headstone with Thomas on it, it just had Thomas M Stewart.  Me just jumping to conclusions that it must have been Mayne because he had a sister who was Elizabeth Mayne Stewart.  I also discovered that Thomas grandmothers Maiden name was Marshall.  So it looks like Christine you might have found Thomas.

I looked on the Nelson Council website and got the details of his burial.  I will need to do some checking at the Public Records Office here in Belfast to see if I can find his Birth just to make sure he was Thomas Marshall Stewart.

Can you tell me is there any census material for 1921 or 1926 available that I could check to see if Thomas had any family.

Thanks for all your help

John

PS:  I will try the Australia page for the shipping details

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Stewart death in New Zealand

Hi Christine

The only information I have is that Thomas died in 1940 in New Zealand. This was on a headstone in a graveyard in Cairncastle Co.Antrim.

His full name is Thomas Mayne Stewart, his father was Thomas Stewart mother Rose Anna Stewart, (maiden name Mayne) probably born about 1881 to early 1900's.

Does anyone have any information on ships sailing from London to Sydney in 1913. Thomas could have travelled with his cousin Robert James Stewart.  Robert was killed in World War 1 with the New Zealand Canterbury Infantry Regiment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is another:
Agnes (Nancy) McKechnie was born in Belfast in 1799. She married John Keenan in about 1816. Her eldest daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Keenan, was born on 26 July 1818 and christened on 30 August 1818 in Ballyeaston Parish. Co. Antrim. The family emigrated to Canada (Nepean Twp., Ontario) in 1828

hi

Sarah Elizabeth Keenan was christened in First Ballyeastion Presbyterian Church not Parish and the area born was Drumadarragh. No other information about her from the Baptismal Records for the Church.

Hope this helps.
