Thanks Old Rowley for the information on the photographer and as for the date of the photo I am very impressed, you must have missed the bit earlier in this thread where I realized I had the photo in the wrong family and I had realized that the little girl was my great grandmother who was born in Sept 1887. I know that the family were back in the UK for the birth of her brother in May 1892 so the photo was probably taken in 1900/01 so you were very close :)

Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: HAMBLIN - Coleford Somerset

Hi I just happened to see this post and was wondering if you were sure it is Colefold Somerset that you wanted not Coleford Gloucestershire which is just down the road from Newland.
Interesting if it is the Somerset one, that he came from one Coleford and ended up living near another!

Canada / 1891 Quebec looking for Woods family
« on: Saturday 09 February 08 19:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
My Great Grandmother lived in Canada for a few years as a child with her family. She was born in Sept 1887 in Portsea Hampshire England and I know that the family were back in Portsea for the birth of her brother in May 1892. The only clue I have as to which part of Canada they were in it a photo of my Great Grandmother taken by a photographer in Quebec.
Since they dont appear in the 1891 census in England I was wondering if it was possible to find them in the 1891 in Quebec and also if there are any other records that they might show up on.
Just in case anyone is able to do a lookup here they are-
William H Wood 1850 Plymouth Devon
Ada B Woods 1853 Plymouth Devon
Alice A A Woods 1879 Essex
Maude B Woods 1880 Plymouth Devon
Emily E Woods 1884 Portsea Hampshire
Ettie M Woods 1884 Portsea Hampshire
Blanche Woods 1887 Portsea Hampshire

Thanks
SBW

I keep thinking about getting the software so I can have a go at some restoring but I spend way too much time on the computer as it is!

There are 2 marriages of William Morgan to Mary in English Bicknor
1808 to Mary Stephens
1818 to Mary Morgan

looking at the baptisms between 1808 and 1817 the early ones dont have fathers occupation but in 1815 there is one for Sarah Morgan and Father William is a Farmer. So I think the Mary Morgan marriage is probably the parents of William in 1819. Just what you need another Morgan!

(Will send you PM)

OK Lydbrook church wasnt built until 1850 and I think English Bicknor church would have been used by Lydbrook residents
There in this baptism in English Bicknor
14 Mar 1819 Morgan William
Parents William and Mary, fathers occupation Labourer
Residence is down as Extraparochial which Lydbrook was at the time.
