Further to my last message, have you got the birth certificate of one of the children you mentioned having found?  This would give you the maiden name of the mother, and so help you to find the marriage of the correct couple (just input the two names into the Search at FreeBMD) which should allow you to progress further back.

If you have the birth certificate and it does say "ROWBERRY" there were some up in the Manchester/Wigan/Stockport area, so it might be one of those - and then perhaps I can help you.

Hi Kessy

I have been researching the ROWBERRY family for 35 years now, and I can help you with Mary Ann ROWBERRY.  However her husband Henry was a Tailor born in Tenbury, Worcestershire and they lived in Bromyard all their lives, carrying on this trade, so I don't think they are the ones that you are seeking.

If you would like more details then please contact me at polly at rowberry dot org.
Kind regards

I can probably help you with your search, but best to contact me off site as I don't check it very often (as you can see!)

John Pryor's parents were Simon Pryor and Elizabeth Saundry. Simon died young and Elizabeth remarried to William Ruberry. The Saundry's and Ruberry's were both shipwrights in Porthleven.

I have been researching the RUBERRY Family of Cornwall for many years so can help with that side of things if you are interested.

Cornwall / Re: Pellew family, Madron/Gulval/Penzance

There is also according to the IGI the following baptism at Gulval:

22 Sep 1799 James Ruberry PELLEW son of Joseph & Elizabeth

and from the GRO birth index:

1837 Sep PELLEW Thomas Ruberry Penzance 9 134

I am researching the RUBERRY family but have never found out why these boys had Ruberry as their second name.  However if Thomas PELLEW married Elizabeth MURRISH, then maybe she is descended from the Mary RUBERRY who married John MORRISH at Gulval in 1769.

If anyone can confirm or deny this connection I would be interested to know.
