From early on in the pregnancy with my first one my husband wanted Wilomena (none in the family), when she was born I decided she looked more like a Rosie, so she got Rosie Wilomena Mary Anne,  Mary cos we've had one in every generation since 1739 and Anne for my MIL.

After Rosie died I had number two, and she got Maisie cos I liked it and Mary Anne again.

Our son is Owen Andrew cause Owen was the only boys name we both liked and Andrew after hubby, so when I was pregnant again I was hoping it wouldn't be a boy cos it would have got the name my husband wanted for Owen....Austin Cooper!

As it was she was a girl (thank goodness!) so was going to be named Madeleine Rose until he decided it would be his last chance to get his beloved cars in a name so she is Madeleine Mini Rose.

And I get told off all the time for having two M's cos everyone gets them mixed up!

I cannot find births for either Faith or Mary Ann Hemswell  ???

Faith and Mary Ann Hemswell were born (according to census info) in approx. 1875 and 1877 in Stockton, (they are 6 and 4 on the 1881 census) Mary Ann is the older one.  Father John, mother Sarah Ann.

I have Faith with her Grandmother in Lincolnshire on the 1891 census but there is no sign anywhere of John or Mary Ann!! I know they are alive as Mary Ann married Samuel TROOP in 1900 and John is living with Faith in 1901.

A big problem I have is that Hemswell turns into many variations, on Faiths marriage cert she is maiden name HEMSLEY! but back through the years the family has been HEMSALL, HEMPSALL and even HEMPSEED

Any help gratefully recieved, thanks

Hi,

My GG Grandmother was born Emily Roshannah Devey in 1839 in Stockton, she married William Simpson in 1860 (in Auckland I think from the BMD records) and they had 6 children from what I can gather from census and BMD records

Annie Elizabeth approx 1860
Jane approx 1863
William approx 1866
Ellen/Helen approx 1867
Margaret 1871
Daisy 1873

William then died and she married my GG Grandfather Thomas Simpkins and they had

Frederick 1878 (who married Fannie Harrison Robinson in 1901)
Charles who married Ada Scrafton and they are my G Grandparents.

I have no idea what happened to the Simpsons, there are various combinations of them living with Emily and Thomas on the censuses and some living with maternal Grandparents on the 1881 census.

I think Annie Elizabeth married Cornelius E Gallagher because I found a marriage for her and Philip Gallagher grandson is with Thomas on the 1901 census, but otherwise the Simpsons appear to have disappeared into the ether,

Can anyone help please?  ???
