England / Marriage cert mistakes
« on: Wednesday 01 September 10 22:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible that a father's name could be written incorrectly on a marriage certificate?  I have a marriage cert that says the father is a John when I am fairly certain (?) he was a James.  This is going back to the time when not every one could read and write.  Maybe someone else has come across this.
Regards,
Annie.

Hi, Sami,
My Ellen Quinn had three children.  Olive, James and Edwin.  Do you still think she is connected to you?
Regards,
Annie.

Hi, Gerard,
Sorry, that was an old post and I have since found that Mary Allen  was born in Leicestershire.
Cheers,
Annie.

Hi, ellie-k,   :)
Thankyou so much for your reply.  I had given up hope of finding a connection to my Burke family.  I think you have just made it.  I look forward to hearing from you again.
Best regards,
Orphanannie.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / 1910 in Camelford
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 22:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi, All,  :)
I have 7 male members of my Cornish Langdon family who died in 1910.  Maye this is pure coincidence.  They worked at the Delabole slate mine.  Is anyone aware of a quarry disaster at that time, or any other reason why so many men died in the same year.  A long shot, I know, but worth a try.
Best regards,
Annie

Hi,  :)

I hope I have posted this in the right place!
Re John Prout,  1773.
I have just received information from the Cornwall Family History Society regarding his possible parents/siblings.

This is what I have:

John Prout married Priscilla Gleddon in Tintagel in 1770 (A marriage we have considered in the past)

Children - all baptised in Tintagel
Betty 1771
JOHN 1773
Richard 1775
Ann 1776
Margery 1778
Phillippa 1779
Thomas 1782
Grace 1786
Thomas 1790

I have found some possible marriages for some of the children but cannot find any of these people in any census, apart from John in 1841 and 1851 -  and I realise that my John may not be the one listed above. :-\
If he was born in Tintagel why would his place of birth be St Teath in the 1851 census.

Can anyone throw any light on this family and their spouses or their whereabouts?  I was hoping that the results from the CFHS would help me but I am now more confused.com.
Any help at all would be wonderful.
Best regards,
Annie.

Hi, Deb,
I have Ivy's marriage cert.  There is a line through the box where her Father's name should be.
At least I now know for sure who her Mother was.
Regards,
Annie  :)

You are probably right
I have actually found one! :D
As yet, I have not gone too deep in to it, but it may be worth following up.
I am just so glad to know that I found Ivy at last (With a lot of help!)
Annie.
