Armed Forces / 10th Battery Royal Field Artillary
« on: Friday 13 March 09 15:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

On one of my Family Headstone, there is a David Edwards, until recently we thought he had died in the 1st World War, but on closer inspection discovered he died in 1902.

Further searches found he had in died in Ahmadnagar India, and was part of the
Aldershot 10th Royal Field Artillery Driver/soldie Ref No 352 or 552.

Can anyone help with any more details, and which war would this have been, would it be the Boar????

Any info on David would be fantastic, as we have much on his brothers, but little on him

Thanks
Debbie

World War Two / Need Some Help
« on: Tuesday 10 March 09 19:02 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone advice me, on where to find some info.

My Hubbies GG Uncle Walter died on 16 March 1945, he was a rear gunner, and was killed over Germany.

I am looking to find, like a diary of what happened on that day.

He was with the 59th Squadron RAF.

I have located his brothers ship and what happened, but I can't find anything similiar for Walter in the RAF.

Any help appreciated.

Ps. Have looked at the site someone posted on my last post on here.

Hi

My Hubbys great uncles Walter and Herbert Darbyshire served in WW2, and I know that, Walter was on HMS Repulse, when it was Torpedoed, he escaped, and was then Topedoed again and lost his life. Sergeant Herbert Darbyshire was a rear Gunner and was shot down over Germany, My hubbys Aunt, neice of the above, has found info on Herbert on the internet, but I am blowed if I can locate, the Article.

Has anyone any ideas, where I can get information on the 2 men.

Parents were Alfred Edwin Darbyshire and Catherine nee Wood, they lived in Irlam.

Many Thanks in advance

Debbie

Lancashire / Kate Baines Salford
« on: Tuesday 03 February 09 12:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to find Kate Baines b.1885 Salford on the 1891 census.

From the 1901 census I have

Thomas Baines H age 40 Carter B. Salford
Kate Baines      W age 38           B, Salford
Kate                  D age 16            B Salford
John                     age 10            B Salford
Walter                  age 8              B Salford
Florence                age 6             B Salford

Kate (mother/wife) was born abt 1859 according to her death cert in 1915, and her maiden name was delaney, (so she might be born Ireland not Salford)

I can't locate them any where on the 1891 and I can't find a marriage either.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks
Debbie

« on: Thursday 13 November 08 13:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone help me, I am searching for a marriage for a Frederick Berry Clarke and a Sarah Beatrice Grange, in Manchester.

They married betweeen 1894 and 1900, first child born 1899 and last child born 1916.

I have searched Ancestry ( nothing appearing for either surnames between 1896 and 1900, have tried other spellings so I can try and look  previous and later pages, but nothing happening), have also tried LDS, FreeBMD and Lancs BMD.

Any help appreciated as I now have googley eyes with looking.

Thanks
Debbie
