Hi David and thank you for this, however, I think this maybe a different Edward as I have a birth/christening date for him as 21st December 1803 at Tregynon.

The baptism year of 1788 would have made him 35 years old at the time of his marriage which I think highly unlikely.

Many, many thanks, Br1gau. You are a star.

The ? mark on the 1871 Census next to Esther is the fact that she was the daughter of Mary and not her sister. Esther never married and died in 1909 at Bacheldre. On the 1881 Census she, as you quite rightly, living at Bacheldre with her widowed sister, Elizabeth Owen and her children.

Again, many thanks for all your help and assistance, David

That's great and confirms this is my ancestry. If you find anything else such as the 1841 Census detail I would be very grateful, David

Just wondered if anyone has connections to the above who were married at St Nicholas, Church Stoke on 30th June 1853.  I understand Mary 1824-1900 was the daughter of Edward 1803-1887 & Mary (unknown maiden name) born 1805 at Caersws.

Matthew 1824-1887 came from Kington, Herefordshire and was a Inland Revenue Clerk. Matthew & Mary's daughter, Caroline 1854-1892 is my maternal great grandmother. She married John Wait at Welshpool in 1883.

I am looking to go back further from Edward & Mary and any information would be greatly appreciated, David.

Gloucestershire / Georgina Clapp & George Freeguard

Help required, please.

One of my ancestors, George Freeguard, married Georgina Clapp at St Matthew, Moorfields, Bristol on 1st March 1884, but which one?!!

Her father is listed as Henry, however, there are two christenings of Georgina Clapp, one dated 24th June 1860 and the other dated 25th February 1863 both in Bristol and  both showing the father as Henry and mother as Mary Ann.

Would she have been christened twice or were there two girls with the same name?

Any help, as per usual, would be greatly appreciated. Regards, David

Yes, great, great!! I understand now Rosie after re-reading what you have said. I had now idea before today that Sarah married twice (possibly even a third time) after John Meddoms died in 1868.

Thanks to you and all contributors, David

I have hunted for some time now all to no avail.

Seems to be sorted now!
Well done to Rosie for finding that first marriage for Sarah.
The name Wilcox is completely foreign to me. Sarah was born Abbotts, daughter of Thomas Abbotts and Kitty Clark Tredwell in 1836, baptised at St Mary, Banbury on 14th October 1836.

Are was saying she married a Wilcox BEFORE, Meddoms and her marriage to him was a second one? I've seen nothing to suggest that was the case.
