Kerry / Meara, Sullivan. Kenmare
« on: Saturday 05 December 20 20:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks, I'm hoping someone can help please
Denis Meara married Mary Sullivan April 1829, Templenoe, Co Kerry
They had a daughter Catherine born June 1830 in Kenmare (my 2 g/grandmother)
I can't find anything else in the Church records about Denis and Mary. Is there anywhere else I could look?
Several trees on Ancestry have Denis O'Mara in USA with another wife and several children, I don't think it's him??

Also of interest....I know there are a lot of Sullivan branches, but does any have connection to the name Fuller? This was passed down as a second name in the family for a couple of generations.

Thank you for reading, Merry Christmas  :)

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ancestry ThruLines - DNA driven?

I have one reservation about "potential ancestors" on Thrulines. Please, please, please, check and check all records.
I have one 4th g/grandmother who is listed as a potential, with several trees listed as evidence. However this lady is NOT my 4th g/grandmother (reference a birth certificate and a will) I have added notes to this effect on several of the trees but there is no way to remove this entry from the Thrulines which is very annoying.

Kerry / Re: Killarney address

Thanks John, that was a bit hard to get around. I was hoping for something more like the English Directories of the time. Maybe I was being a bit too hopeful there  :-\

Kerry / Killarney address
« on: Tuesday 01 September 20 22:09 BST (UK)  »
In the last few days my Irish have been turned on their heads  :o
A real juxtaposition of names.
My query is.. are there anything records available that will show a person living in High Street Killarney between say 1885-1890
My G/father was born there in 1886
My gg/grandmother is listed there in the 1901 census
I want to know if my g/grandmother really did "go home to Mum" to have her baby.
any help really appreciated  :-*

The Common Room / Re: What do you do if you realise Ancestry hints are mistaken?

I added to notes/comments to at least ½ dozen trees explaining the situation and adding proof details they could check (if they so desired of course!) It remains to be seen if the rest of the sheep follow. This particular branch has a lot of copycats  :(

I'd be glad if people would at least reply to all the messages I've sent out  :(

The Common Room / Re: Ancestry thrulines evaluations

Thanks Margaret I thought that might be the case. Such a shame  :( there's a lot of matches!
The thing is too that this info is not hard to debunk (don't even have to send for the will) as on one of my 3rd g/grandmother Ruth's children's birth certs it lists her (Ruth) as daughter of Edward....(not Cornelius)
oh well :-) Sylvia

The Common Room / Ancestry thrulines evaluations
« on: Wednesday 11 March 20 23:04 GMT (UK)  »
This may have been asked before but how do I add notes to these please. Ancestry have put up a 4th g/grandmother for me to evaluate and while there are several other trees that have included this lady, I know for a fact (Will dated 1812) that her daughter of the same name as my 3rd g/grandmother actually married someone else. ???
Any suggestions please

The Common Room / Re: Contacting people on Ancestry

Thanks all, I'm rather glad it's not just me  :-[
The fact that this happens to every person I've tried to contact tells me that not all have lapsed or died....too many!!!
I'm just interested in why this or that person has my g/granny's pic or my uncle's marriage cert and how they are related.
Hopefully things will be sorted soon
