Hello Hillhurst.  Thanks for your note. Any info is gratefully received. On reflection I would prefer to learn something about their work. I can find nothing to suggest either became famous. If they were professional performers it would be interesting to find where they might have appeared. As a child reciter Gladys would have only a short working life so what became of her?  Where did they live and did they have families? As I say, any scraps would be gratefully received.

Any information about these ladies would be welcome. Rose Jones may be hyphenated. Gladys was born in London about 1892 and was a child reciter around 1902. Lily Gorham was born in London about 1880. She may have been a singer (contralto). Sorry there is so little info but someone may be able to help. Thanks.

Trish  -  As soon as I saw your name and picture I remembered that you have helped me before. Sherlock Holmes said once you have eliminated the impossible what ever is left no matter how unlikely must be the truth. You  are right!!!  Geo 1 at 21 married a woman of about 40.  Your reference numbers on the D/C  are correct.  It appears that on Jane's death in Dec 47 Geo marries his servant in April 48.

Re the 1841 census with that list of names the F/S you will notice that near the bottom is Maria Pedley again. Hard to believe that the top and bottom are in his household but not the middle lot.  Could they be employees in the tea business? They are all young men; what else can they be?

I cannot find Jane on F/S. Died at 225 Green Lane Bordesly with ? sister Mary Hooper. No sign of her either.

Will write again soon.   And thanks

Peter

Warwickshire / Naden family over 4 generation

I researched the Naden family over a decade ago and the recent lockdown   has given time to sort through the papers again.  Any help members can give me will be welcome. Who were they all?

The part of the family tree I am following is in outllne -
Thomas Naden Builder
George Naden I son of the above married Jane Hooper in 1822. Occupation tea merchant.
George NadenII married Sophia M A Chambers 1876?
George Naden III married Eliza Lucy Stanyard in 1879.

I have some census records
1841 Sarah B Naden showing her to be daughter of Geo I. So where is his wife Jane and where are they living? Who are the other 13 people on the premises?
1851 Geo I with
new wife Maria. Where are they living?

1871 Where is Geo I living?  5 servants suggest a big house.
Geo II and Geo III appear to be clerks but where were they living?

I have some certificates showing Geo I d 1882, Jane d 1847 at Green Lane, Sophia d 1875 and   Geo I m Maria Pedley in 1848.

Any flesh that can be added to the bare bones would be appreciated. I know it is a big ask to look at 4 generations but any bits and bobs will be welcomed.

Thanks Trish. So George ended up marrying a servant!  The rest were, it would appear, workers in the tea and grocery business.  I saw there was no reference to George's wife Jane. Perhaps she had left him because he was 'associating' with a member of staff!

One more question please then I will go away, I promise. Pauline sent me a link to Familysearch and I found George and his daughter in the 1841 census. I have no access to this other than this link. There are 13 other names listed at this address, one of whom is Maria Pedley who turns out to be his second wife mentioned in your previous notes  Can you tell me please who these people are and what is the address involved?

Trish - thanks for note. You have convinced me! So thanks for finding his parents which is the info I was seeking. I think we can now draw a line under George & Jane.

Pauline - thanks again. Will do.

Trish -  Thanks for your endeavours on my behalf. In 2006 I was given some of these names by the Naden etc Family Society. However it seems that my Nadens and the ones you quote were different families running in parallel yet interlinked and using similar forenames. I have spent years trying to reconcile the records until I found why the birth etc dates seemed to overlap. I am still trying to find the mother of the George born in 1801. It may be Butler or Bird, other names proffered by the Society.  Your finding Thomas and Sarah has possibilities though 1784 seems early for George's birth in 1801 17 years later. Any ideas as to how I could link 1801 George with the 1784 marriage.

Pauline - thanks for the goodies. I have been in the links and will work on the info. I see Thomas is shown as the father of Geo 1; this is new ground. Is there an easy way of identifying his mother from the info we have? A second marriage for Geo is a big surprise.   Your help is much appreciated.
