Occupation Interests / George Furmston- "SADDLER" Shropshire
« on: Monday 30 April 07 13:01 BST (UK)  »
George Venables Furmston was listed on the 1851 census for Lancashire.  He was a visitor and listed as a SADDLER JOURNEYMAN,
From the little knowledge I have This tells me he must have completed an Apprenticeship.
Does any one know if records were kept and if so where do I begin to search?

George was born Jan 1830 in Ellesmere,  Father Edward Furmston Mother Mary nee Venables.
He married Ursula Davies in Dec 1851 in the Parish ofLlanllwchaiarn in the Montgomery shire of Wales.
They both immigrated to Australia in Sept 1852.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Furmston/Staunton-Aust to NZ 1896/97
« on: Friday 20 April 07 07:21 BST (UK)  »
Florence Amelia Furmston b23.9.1869 at Healesville Victoria Australia daughter of English immigrants george Venables & Ursula Furmston.
She was lost to me until by chance I came across a marriage for her in NZ, to Michael John Staunton(Postmaster) from Clyde on 11 Feb 1901 at St Josephs Cathedral n Dunedin. Michael was born in Melbourne Victoria Aust.
She died 10 months later on 26 Dec 1902,place of death Manaia, her certificate states she had been a resident in NZ for 5 years.
I have been unable to find her passage to NZ - 1896/97.
Did she go alone or with her intended husband and did her father travel to NZ to attend the marriage or indeed the funeral.
If there is anyone who can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.
