The Lighter Side / Re: PAST GAMES !!
« on: Friday 10 September 04 13:15 BST (UK)  »
As a Primary School Teacher I try to reintroduce a lot of the older games- in the playground we have played marbles, jacks, elastics, skipping, four square, downball, hopscotch etc, in the classroom I have introduced jigsaws, quizzes, card games, dominoes as well as many of the older language games of I Spy, Categories, 20 Questions, Mastermind, clapping chants (like Miss Mary Mac) tongue twisters and the like.  It is amazing to watch the kids with these 'new' activities.  They pick them up quickly and it's great to see them still interested and playing them years later.  In this busy day and age, and with many from non-English speaking backgrounds, they have all the technological game equipment but not a board game or deck of cards at home.  As the saying goes 'Everything old is new again.'  :D

 ;)  Hello Everyone,
I am a Newbie to this forum and my experience in Genealogy is quite limited.  Therefore I apologise in advance for any questions I may ask that may appear daft.

I am looking for information on the following names: CRONIN, NOLAN, FINN, SPILLANE, CLIFFORD from County Kerry.  Places names found so far (in respective order) are GORTADRISLIG, GORTADRISLIG, CALLINAFERCY, MILLTOWN and SCORT.

So far I've been able to establish a few threads and 1 goes back to 1807, so I think I'm doing ok.

Look forward to chatting
 :D
