Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: His name was JOHN WARDLE and he was from CHAPELTOWN
« on: Thursday 07 May 15 18:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have not been able to trace John Wardle as yet in the census records but have found a record of his marriage to Gertrude Poole.

They were married on the 24th September 1910 at the Parish Church Purston cum South Featherstone.

Johns fathers name is recorded on the marriage certificate as John Wardle and his occupation is recorded as a miner.

The witnesses were Robert William Poole and Sarah Eliza Clegg.

I hope that this information is helpful to you and if I can be of any further help, please do not hesitate to ask.

Julie,

If you are not already familiar with this website you might be interested in taking a look at www.ludditebicentenary.blogspot.co.uk  I think that this is the correct address but if not just google ludditebicentenary and it should be the first option which appears.

There is a search option on the blog and if you type William Cotton an article dated March 1812 is shown.  I don't know whether it contains any further information than the information which you already have but it might be worth taking a look at.

Best Wishes
