what occupations are given for father and son on the marriage cert?

No occupation for the father, just Edward Palmer deceased.  I have found an Edward Palmer in Kelly's Directory 1880, Inn keeper at the Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd but am  unable to find him again in the census.

Robert Palmer's occupation is Hostler.  He married  Edith Troake in West Buckland Somerset and I have him in 1911 in Chelston, Wellington, Som where the family have remained to this day.

Thank you for the link about Cymmer, I'll print that out for my friend.

BTW the Troake family is all sorted!

It could be although the first letter really does look like an L or maybe (big maybe) a G.

Thanks for that, I'll have nose about as well.

Glamorganshire / Lymmer and Porth Parish
« on: Monday 07 December 09 08:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm trying to do a bit more of a friend's tree for him for Christmas as he has hit a brick wall.

His Grandfather's marriage cert in 1905 says the groom Robert Palmer's residence was 'Parish of Lymmer & Porth, Glamorgan', his father was Edward Palmer deceased.

On the 1911 census  Robert said he was born in Pontypridd in 1880 but we can't find him on any other census.

Is the Parish of Lymmer and Porth part of Pontypridd? I have looked on Genuki Glamorgan and can't find it there and the four Pontypridd parishes seem to have different names.

Need a bit of local help with this one please.

Thank you

But not all ethnic groups in India have wavy hair - which was really my point. Should have made myself clearer.

That wavy hair looks a bit Romany to me.

Hi,
I have found them on the 1911 census at Golden Square Cross, Stockland, Devon  in a caravan

Henry Manley Head  1881 Pedling General Dealer, Dorset Lyme Regis
Mary Manley Wife  1881 Dorset LR (as above)
Mary Matilda Dau  1898 Pedling, Dorset LR
Mary Ann Manley Dau 1902 Dorset LR
Henry Manley Son 1904 Dorset LR
Caroline Manley Dau 1908 Dorset LR
Lenard Manley Son 5 months  1910 Devon Dalwood (written on the wrong line but appears to refer to Lenard)

Have been unable to find them in 1901 to see if there are any clues to Henry being  the son of James and Fiance

A google search just now brought up loads.

Also if you want the Aston part try the web site Aston Brooke through Aston Manor. Google should find it.
